Motorcycle vs bear - bear wins

THis one took place in B.C. a few days ago. A bit scary but it could have been worse.
If it was a full grown grizzly I expect it would have been a lot worse.

Not good ! Not good at all. I hope he was not hurt too had, and will be okay. Those motorcycle vs animal crashes do not end up well...... ever.
My oldest son had a deer jump out in front of his bike one nite years back, when he was going to work. He probably would not have made it, but they landed with the deer on the bottom, my son in the middle, and the bike on top, and skidded down the road that way.
There was deer all over the road afterwards. It was a back road, early spring in North Idaho, so he laid out there for quite a while before a motorist came by and stopped to help, and reported it.
For some reason, the dispatcher thought it was only a road kill, and since Tony was a Deputy, and supposed to be coming past there on his way to work, they assumed that he would stop when he came to the deer.

Eventually, when he didn't report in, they sent another deputy out to check, and found my son, hurt, frozen, and barely conscious , and of course, the ambulance got there in record time after that happened.

It took him a while to recover, and longer to get another motorcycle, and ended his law enforcement career, but was the reason he decided to go to college, and there found the wonderful lady who became his wife, and mother of my grandsons.
Now, he is into shortwave radio, and belongs to the local search and rescue team, so he still can help out when needed. And , of course , he still loves motorcycles....

 

The reason he didn't stay in law enforcement was because he had broken his leg in several places, and even though he trained hard, running in the sand, climbing hills and stairs, etc., he said that he felt like his leg was not the same as it was before the accident.
Because not only his life, but the other deputies lives, could depend on his speed and agility, he decided not to take the chance on staying in law enforcement.
Since he was also into computers, he went to college and studied that, and has worked in computers ever since. He is a volunteer with the local PD though, and has been for years .

 

My understanding is the bear ran off. Not sure after that. But it was a young or small bear going from the video. The motorcycle rider
had injuries. The bear seemed to be actually about the size of a large dog but I would guess, heavier.
The bear incident is not a riding experience I want to have. I have been chased and almost bitten by a dog while riding. I kicked the dog which was trying to latch on to my leg and hit the throttle.

Wow! Amazing video.

The Bear for sure won and I feel bad for both parties. Luck wasnt on both of their sides.

Yeah that doesn't look like very much fun at all. I've seen lots of people get messed up from hitting animals. Especially deer at night. Can't say I really feel too bad for the rider here though as that all could have been avoided.

 

Unfortunately , the video doesn't exist anymore. I would have like to see it and what that bear is like.

 

I agree, but I guess there really isn't much we can do about it.
