Boxing or MMA?

I'm a fan of both but I really love the art of boxing. It's the purest form of fighting. I idolized the Four Kings growing up. They are Duran, Leonard, Hearns, Hagler. It was the Golden Era of boxing. Then came the Fab Four during early 2000. Pacquiao, Barrera, Morales, Marquez. Those 8 fighters have probably given the world the best fights in boxing outside of the heavyweight division.

 

I have to say I was a fan of boxing but now I have to go with MMA.
But boxing, I still have some interest there.

Its a great question, but I need to go with Boxing. Both are great sports that take huge skill and huge amount of strength. But boxing has the history and the strategy like no other.

 

I would be more into modern boxing if there wasn't so much corruption. The last boxing match I watched live was Hopkins-Pascal II. I used to be into kickboxing the most, but since learning more about grappling, MMA is now my favorite combat sport.

 

Boxing would be my pick without question. Its one of the few sports I've followed over the years.

I am not entirely sure why, but I never could get into MMA. The only time I see it is when its on at the gym. To each their own though.

 

Maybe it's because I'm a female, but I HATE watching MMA! I can't keep my eyes open. I don't know why someone would voluntarily do that! But my husband enjoys watching. YUCK!
That being said, I never watched boxing either. So I can't choose! LOL

 

I mainly watch MMA but appreciate the art of Boxing as well. What I think is hurting boxing is the lack of star power. Currently, the most well known boxers are Mayweather, Pacquiao and the Klitschko brothers. Compared to MMA, where there are countless household names. However, if someone were to KO Floyd Money I would definitely become a fan. I can't stand that guy's character.

 

I don’t want to look biased but I have to say that Boxing is still my game. But I don’t see the point in comparing these two games. MMA is just a third brother or so to boxing so we haven’t experienced much about it. Personally MMA is still young and the competitors are not as productive as Boxing.

 

You make a good point James. I don't even know what the difference is between WBC, IBF or WBA.
Don't you think that unifying all the champions will degrade that particular commision's champion though? For exmaple, if a WBC champion beats a WBA one, wouldn't it make the WBC look bad as a whole and create the perception that the WBC is inferior?

 

I like both but i would have to go with MMA. MMA has a certain brutality factor to it that sparks my interest. Maybe i'm kind of sick in the head. lol But MMA is also has a great display of strategy between fighters that i appreciate.

 

I really like MMA!!! That's what I call a good sport, lol, I like the fact those guys don't hesitate and will kick each other's asses with no mercy! Box can be brutal tho, but not as much as MMA, mostly because the freedom of movement a MMA fighter has... that adds a lot to the brutality effect! I've watched a lot MMA fights... and oh my... are they intense!!! I still like box tho A big fan of ''el canelo'' here!

 

Boxing by far! I find MMA disturbing!

 

I was raised in a family that traditionally gathered together around the TV set on Saturday to watch Boxing matches and share a beer, and sometimes watching a movie related to boxing stores that the TV channel used to broadcast afterward.

I was then not really aware that boxing is an art, but developing a special crunch on having such combined entertainment at a later time. However during my teens I developed a passion for wrestling and later for martial arts, so nowadays I can say that I enjoy both boxing an MMA, but boxing remains as my favorite for all the memories involved when watching a match.

 

I like boxing but mma has a lot of appeal to me. takes a lot more abuse

 

Boxing. I prefer it over MMA for sure. It's possibly because I grew up with the boxing matches the local TV channel used to show and I just can't go without them these days. Boxing classics is something I die for.
MMA is much more brutal though, nevertheless, I also enjoy watching it.

 

I love boxing because it's a pure form of fighting. I watch it both locally and internationally. Every Thursday night we have our local boxing competition on TV. This year they have included other Caribbean countries so it's even more exciting. Naturally, I'm rooting for my country to come out on top. Good luck team Jamaica.
