Here are some Jeeps I found online locally. Not ready to buy yet but I'm "window shopping". Trying to decide how I want to spend on the project Jeep.

Found a 2000 TJ in Ontario that needs work. $2000 I don't like the fact that it is an automatic but other that it seems to have project written all over it.

I'm not planning on pulling the trigger on a Jeep for a couple of months or so. That one there is over 2000 kms away. I don't mind going to get one that far away but it would have to be road worthy or I would have to pay to have it shipped. If I shipped it, it would have to be an amazing deal.

For serious rock crawling I'm sure your right about an auto. I don't have plans to do any serious rock crawling yet. It wouldn't hurt to ask around about some of the trails I might want to hit to plan my build. I know people ran lifted Toyota pick ups around here with manuals. My wife is also wanting to learn how to drive one so it would help that.

Which Hummer? I love the H1's. Drove the H2's and H3's. I liked them as well.

I'm excited to get my Jeep and start this project. Hopefully I can start it in a few months.

Need to get my money together. I found another one that might be worth looking at about 45 mins away. $4000 with 230000 kms.

I have watched videos of both doing well off road. I think it depends on where your going and what your doing. They wouldn't be too much different from a regular GM truck which many people off road with.

I'm changing my plans a bit on my plans. A Jeep Rubicon is what I have wanted since they came out. I felt that they were a bit too far over the budget to bother looking at. Now I might be changing that and going for something that is in better shape. So I will be hoping to find something in pretty good condition so that I have to do less repairs. Then I will work on the build over time. That could change again if things don't all work out but getting a Jeep is still the goal.

My wife would like me to get a 4 door. That would mean a bit more money and moving into a JK rather then a TJ. I think that is going to take the price up too high. With two kids, the extra doors and space would be nice but its not going to be our main vehicle. We have the Corolla so its not really an issue. That that is something that could happen but I don't see it.

Getting closer. I am a few weeks away from knowing my budget. That is when I can really see what I can start my build with. Not finding too many Rubicons that I'm interested in right now. Most of the ones that I have been drooling over have been sold. Hopefully there will but a bunch available in a month from now.

BTW post up any Jeeps you find. Right now I'm looking more at 03-06 Rubicons. I want to be below 150000 kms if I can. I have found a lot with 200000 kms but I'm not sure if I want to go that high. Found one that looks good with 180000 kms but that is a bit high as well. The price seemed ok at $11000 asking.

And the search continues. I have looked at at one that was under $4000 and the other was at $3500. Both had rust issues. The $3500 seemed to be the better of the two.

I have been looking for more expensive ones as well. Everything is up in the air right now. Hard to find affordable Rubicon right now.

The search isn't as fun as it could be. I would love to have something in the next couple of weeks but we will see what happens.

I just hope I can find one that I'm really happy with to park in my driveway.

Test drove a 2008 Jeep Rubicon Unlimited last night and today. It only has 81000 kms on it. It has a 6 speed manual. I cost more then I was originally going to speed but it should be fine. The big issue is it is sitting on winter rims and tires right now. The winters are studded so the would have to come off by the 30th. It has the factory rims (alloy) but the don't have tires on them. So that isn't cheap to replace those. Not sure what I want to do on that.

Well I was willing to make a deal on that 08 Rubicon bit the dealer thought it was worth more then what I did.

I don't think they own it anyway. So when the other dealer takes it back and sends it to the auction, I might get to buy it from another dealer at a better price. If not I will keep looking for another one.

Here is the one I looked at. The dealer wasn't worth dealing with. They were playing games. This had the winter wheels on it. The stock ones were available but didn't have tires on them.

I have another dealer looking now. Tried to get a nice black one but another guy has a deposit on it. So unless he doesn't finish the deal then that one is gone. So the search continues.
