Lucky for the US. In getting to the quarters, playing Belgium may be a good opportunity for them since Belgium may have a problem with the heat conditions. As to who will be champions, I think climatic condition may actually be a big deciding factor in that too.

I don't know if the US will be able to beat Belgium, but they almost beat Portugal so anything can happen really. As for the climate, I don't think the US have an edge just because of that, I believe that in 90 minutes anything can happen really. Unless you have Messi of course. :)

I'm Portuguese and since my team is already out, I'm now rooting for Germany and even tough they destroyed us, I like to watch all the players there.
USA did a pretty good job, they were an underdog but proved wrong and played good football. Good luck!

I don't really like soccer, but I'm rooting for the US since it is my country after all. Although, the amount of people on social media making fun of "Belgium waffles" is driving me insane.

    It's BELGIAN, people.

So I am sorry sully, Belgium just won 2-1 on extra-time and is in the quarter finals. Good game though, Belgium really deserved the win, but the USA could have closed the game near the 90 minutes with that amazing loss in front of the goal.

I wonder how well we could have done with Donovan there.

That Belgium game, he could have made all the difference.

On the bright side, all of the bandwagon fans will disappear now, and before you know it nobody here will like soccer once more. That is, until the next World Cup.

What's wrong with being a bandwagoner?

People who call others are a bandwagon fan, is no different than hipsters saying "Ha I liked *INSERT BAND HERE* BEFORE they were cool".

It, itself, is a form of bandwagoning: to hop on and hate on anyone who likes something popular.

Bandwagoners should be HAPPY that more people are watching that sport. Isn't that what you want? To watch and appreciate the game with others?

    Makes me laugh...

If Klinsmann didn't want him, maybe he got his reasons, besides he's like what, 34 years old? Rather old for a striker to be in a world cup I think. Now let's see what Germany vs France brings us tomorrow.

I think Brazil or The Netherlands will win the world cup. Brazil is the team I always root for in the world cup and it has been a while since they won the title and so I hope they can do it this year on home soil. Germany looks very good but I am not sure if they can go all the way. If Germany is beaten in the semi-finals then the team that defeated them will more than like win the title as with the last two tournaments.

It has nothing to do with "liking something before it's cool," it's about being true to your city, your team, and your fan base, and not switching sides just because another team is better than yours. If you go from being a Yankee fan to a Red Sox fan, just because the Red Sox won the World Series, you aren't a true fan. Same if you became a Miami Heat fan after being a Cleveland fan, just since LeBron left. Or in this case, only liking soccer every four years, then going back to nobody liking it again for another four years. It's one thing to like another team, or respect them, but to all of a sudden be a huge fan of X or Y just because the team is good, your a bad fan. By your response I take it you're a Heat fan, as well as a Yankee fan, a Seahawks fan, and a Blackhawks fan? Sorry my response offended you. Maybe you should find a team of your own, and be loyal.

    Makes me laugh...

I really can't point out a favorite. Brazil beat Chile in the penalty kicks, so I would not be surprised if Colombia beat them today.

well the usa really surprised me by coming out of the group of death. but i like the way how the country supported them even though they lost to belgium they actually deserved to win. too bad usa would just forget about the sport until the next world cup.

I don't know if the USA deserved to win....Tim Howard deserved to win, but the rest of the team really didn't show up. The offensive performance was absolutely abysmal! they spent almost the entire game playing defense, and by "they" I mean Tim Howard.

If the USA wants to be relevant int he next world cup it might be best to start grooming the future offensive stars now.

It's not easy to make a competitive team when football (or soccer) in the US is the 4th, 5th or 6th sport... It takes money, so I think that overall they did a great performance.

No comments on Brazil 1, Germany 7? The most insane football result I've seen in my life. Will Germany become world champions?

This really has nothing to do regarding my opinion on who will win the World Cup, but does it irk anyone else how many people jumped on board with soccer when this tourney came around? I have a ton of friends that posted a lot of stuff on FaceBook and yet I think I've never heard them say anything about soccer in my life. On a lighter note does anyone else think Clint deserved to have a little blood flowing from his nose? I support my team but he's a brutal player and has roughed up quite a few other people. Karma.

Who is Clint, a US player?

I am seeing soccer as you call it become a big sport in the US in the years to come. ;)

Now who's gonna take it, Argentina or Germany?

Ah, the good question, for some reason I believe Argentina is going to take it, but Germany is favorite that is for sure. Maybe the Argentinians can pull a surprise though.
