Man drove for 24-hours cross-country with the CORPSE of his girlfriend after she died during their road trip because he 'cared too much' and didn't want her body to be kept in a different state's morgue

• According to police, Tomlinson, carried on driving because he thought he had 48-hours to get her to a morgue
• The unidentified woman is thought to have died after a drugs overdose
• Tomlinson and his 93-year-old mother collected the woman from a mental health facility facility in Arizona
• A distraught Tomlinson said that he did not stop because he did not want to leave her in a morgue thousands of miles away

A man who was driving his girlfriend home to Michigan from Arizona after she checked herself out of a mental health facility has said that the reason he kept driving for hours after he discovered she was dead in the passenger's seat was because 'I cared too much'.

Ray Tomlinson, 62, had gone to pick up his girlfriend, who was exactly half his age, home after she finished a stay in a mental health facility and he brought his 93-year-old wheelchair-bound mother along for the journey.

The girlfriend, who has not been identified by police as they try to contact her next of kin, had previously been homeless and had a history of drug abuse.

It is not clear why exactly she was she was being treated for mental health issues in Arizona, but The Detroit Free Press reports that she signed herself out of the facility on May 28 and left with Tomlinson and his mother.

A very sad ending for such a young life. It is clear though that the boyfriend really loved her and thought he was doing the right thing. I hope he doesn't get any trouble for his actions.

 

That's just beyond sick! You lose control of your bowel movements when you die. The smell had to be so bad, it makes me sick just thinking about it. He should have pulled over and called the police and did the right thing. And give the poor woman the respect she deserves.

Oh Greg, I was eating a bag of cheetos when I read you comment Well, actually I'm glad finally someone admitted having that thought, I thought the same as well and also wondered how he did it... I mean, I know what happens right after death and is gruesome. The human body starts decaying so fast... and yeah, corpses empty their bowels and get stiff, get swollen... change colors... 26 hours is a lot time....

I guess the guy panicked and just didn't like the idea of dropping her at any morgue.

 

No Rosa, he didn't break any law, since the law stipulates that a corpse must be taken to a morgue before the 48 hours mark, I guess that is done for obvious reasons. I guess dealing with something like that gotta be so tough, he didn't want to just eave her there.

 

That's insane. I don't know how that guy could do it. I don't think I could drive a corpse across the country. I couldn't take the smell, and he probably had the windows down the whole entire time. But I agree with Greg, I would've called the police or the paramedics to get help. I know he loved his girlfriend but I hope he doesn't get in trouble for it.

 

Nah, not in trouble at all, he didn't kill her and delivered the body in time. But I agree, I don't think I could do it... the body starts decaying too soon. Fater depending on the weather, if it's too moist and warm then forget about it, lol.

 

I got to commend him, driving with her like that, and he is at the wheel, if it were me in that situation, i 'd be hysterical, probably crash the car...just the thought, is too much for me

 

Yeah, same here... must be terrible, specially if you been with that person for quite a while. For some reason I've the feeling those two hadn't been together for too long, but it still is a horrible thing!

 

I guess that's what love can do to people, they go against logic and make you put up with nasty things. No wonder they say that "love is blind". Oh well, the girl is an addict, I wonder what the senior citizen was thinking when he agreed to have a relationship with her. Maybe to get some young *ss, lol.

 

Lol, you READ my mind. When I read this I thought she was too young for him!!!! I mean, the only way a guy his age could get a girl her age would be if she was someone form a mental institution. I think that's what happened. I wonder how they met? Probably online.

 

Hahaha, yeah and the only exception when it comes to old men scoring some young *ss is if they are a movie star or the look like one. Or both, like George Clooney. or Harrison Ford. Calista Flockhart was too young for him, also Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones. And yes, people with no common friends either met online or from some random place. Or the girl used to be a hooker and he was her customer.

 

Oh yeah! The guy needs to be handsome and rich for that to happen, just like you said I doubt they'd go for an old plumber or anything like that. Man, life is cruel, lol. I have seen that happen, btw, but some girls here are so dumb. A girl who was my classmate got involved with the husband of an old neighbor (no longer living next to me), he was jobless, cheap and damn ugly, yet the stupid girl got knocked up by him twice!!!! That girl must have been the dumbest girl around, the guy she picked was ugly and had no cash, and if he had he'd not give her a cent. Maybe she was desperate.

 

that guy is old enough to be her father wow. anyway i know i wouldnt do what he did at all. i just couldnt handle it.

 

Yeah, he could be her dad, yuck! I know some girls like old guys, I'm not one of those. I prefer guys my age actually. Or 4 years older.

 

Love must have been really blind for that to happen ...there is no better explanation than that ....let me pm you what a friend of mine used to say to such weird situations

I dont find anything wrong with what he did but i agree that the smell had to be so bad. Especially with the heat in the car. That would have made the body decompose even faster making the smell even worse.

 

The big question: Was your classmate decent looking at least or not? If not, then you know why she did that hehe. Some ugly people MUST have a bf or gf to prove to people that they're desirable. How old was he and how old was she?
