My favorite subject is math. I mean I'm not a genius at it but I know how to do it really well. And I'm a horrible test taker. Also my second favorite subject is physical education.

I love Math. I like being able to verify things and with Math, you can do that very easily.

In life how does algebra/geometry help someone?...unless in actuarial science, architecture and computer science?...in my school math was compulsory and i don't see how it helps me in my current life, especially the two mentioned topics :(...i 'll try to do math again but wasn't my cup of :coffee:

My favorite subject is history, especially history of architecture. I like the discussion on how current styles of architecture evolve thru time. I also like reading about the life of the famous architects. It was always a challenge for me to identify a building and the style it was derived from. One of my dreams is to visit the sites of those important buildings that helped shape the history of architecture.

I liked history in high school but only because my teacher did make it fun for us to learn. She used songs and sketchy words to help us remember things. My daughter on the others hand loves History and is a master at remembering dates and events. I always knew she would be because from a tender age, even before she knew the days of the week, she would remember events by associating one event with the same day when something else happened. I believe that some people were definitely born with the ability to do certain things.

Philosophy, I read it a lot as a kid, so when the time came to receive it in highschool I was already pretty much a nerd on it, got full credit.

You probably don't use geometry nearly as much as you use algebra in your life, but they are both very important. You probably use them more often than you think. Let's say you're going to the store with a $20 bill and the store is having a "buy one, get one half-off" sale. How do you figure out how many items you can buy with your $20? There's an equation for that.

Mind boggling already, i guess you have a point there, i 'll try to do some math again and see how it goes, but it was never my favorite, i always felt like my brain was being split in two sections :wideeye:

I absolutely loathed history and that's why I dropped it. On the other hand my favourite, favourite subject was Chemistry! I was the best student in chemistry. I absolutely loved it, I felt like I was born to learn chemistry all my life and it was in me.

You are so right Levi. Some people are born with like a trait in them to just do some things and no matter how others try hard to be good at the same they constantly fail. I know someone who is the direct opposite of you right there, he needs to have Chemistry for his career and it seems rather impossible, but he is not a quitter so I know he won't give up.

It can help you a lot actually, specially if you are naturally good with numbers. I can calculate a lot things way easier thanks to algebra  I'm not good in geometry tho, so I might not be able to help the kids with that :p

I really love physics. Our teacher was kind of obsessed with it. Not that the other teachers weren't obsessed with their subjects, but this one had the extra "click". School physics was simply awesome - we understood how electricity works, how light works and how do basic everyday electronics do their job. Most of the gadgets we use these days are created with that knowledge and they are continuing to advance. Image the technology we will have in 20 years - and it'll all be thanks to physics.

Science, and to be precise Physics.I loved it and it kept me engrossed all through the class, and trust me,there were times when i never felt time flying by and just like that an hr flew by.I still love physics, but have taken a much broader stream,Mechanical Engineering..and everything about it deals with some concept of physics. My all time favorite.

Chemistry guy here. Through elementary school I used to play with those at home chemistry kits and ended up with a degree in Chemistry.

My son is really good in Chemistry, it is so easy for him to do. I try to explain to him that many people find Chemistry hard to do and explain to him how fortunate he is that he is able to get chemistry so easily.
He seems to take it in stride and doesn't understand why people think chemistry is so hard. He's also really good at math too, and doesn't understand what the big deal is about it.

In high school, my favorite subject was English, because it was easy for me. I also liked an elective class called "Marriage and Family."
I liked the teacher a lot, so I took the class two years in a row just so I could have that same teacher.
When I started going to college many years ago (no degree yet:arghh:), my favorite subjects were languages.
Not fluent in anything other than English, but languages thrill me:happy:. I like American History too:happy:.

My son likes math, too. And he makes it look so easy. Trellum, are you one of those people that breezes through math problems
while the rest of us are sitting around looking dazed and confused? :roflmao::roflmao:
Math is a struggle:wacky: for me, but I have learned to want to love it, because math is everywhere.
This world is made out of letters and numbers.
