Another memory lane thread, but do you remember antenna balls? They went away with stationary antennas. I say this because cars still had antennas for a while, but when they became retractable, you would often lose the antenna ball.

I was out in the country at a small Mobil gas station that had been remodeled recently. On the counter was the old Mobil symbol of the red flying horse Pegasus on a bowl of antenna balls. I gushed about how great they were and the woman said they found them up in the attic during the remodel. I told her my family showed old cars and ended up grabbing a dozen. She told me no one was buying them and gave me the whole lot for 5 dollars.

Do you remember antenna balls or have a car that can still use them?

I remember when everyone was driving around with the Jack in the Box antenna balls.
Those things were everywhere, then just like you said they just went away.

LOL now your going way back, I can remember people driving around with them. They tired to bring them back in my area a few years back. And believe it or not but my wife bought one and put it on our car. I was so embarrassed that I wanted to duck and hide while driving the car lol.

image.jpg I remember them very well ! ! They had all kinds of them for a while, and the hamburger chains like Jack in the Box had them, and also K-Mart and Walmart. The ones with the smiley face were probably the ones you saw the most of.
Mine was (of course) the Cowgirl one with the braids and cowboy hat. I am pretty sure I superglued mine onto the antenna so it would not come off.

Later, someone gave me one of those big floppy pink flowers for Mother's Day, and I wound that around my antenna, and then duct-taped it on. It had a wire in the part that was the stem of the flower, so it wound around the antenna really well. (Greg, you would for sure have been hiding from THAT one ! ! )

I could always find my pickup out in the Walmart parking lot with that pink flower on the antenna.
