I have never taken a ride in a motorcycle, and my dad dislikes them too, because they are quite dangerous and prone to accidents. Like a single crash into a another vehicle or tree will send you flying into some place near or far from where the accident took place, depending on the impact. So I would like to know your thoughts on riding a motorcycle. Do you think that it's fairly safe or quite dangerous? As for me I will have to go with the similar viewpoint of my dad. It is quite dangerous. How about you?

I've never driven a motorcycle, but I want to buy one someday. I think they are really fast and dangerous.

I love motorcycles. Are they dangerous. You have way less protection then a car and it could also fall on you in a parking lot if you don't have the strength to handle it and or slip which can cause an injury. That doesn't mean they are completely unsafe. I know at least two people that were tossed from a car in an accident. One lived.

I love motorcycles and really miss mine. I do want to buy another one at some point. The tough part is I have young kids and they didn't get to enjoy the motorcycle with me. They had a chance to sit on it but still, other then that they didn't get to have fun on it with me. Because of that and my love of water, I want a boat.

When riding a motorcycle you need to have the viewpoint that every vehicle on the road wants to take you out. You need to make eye contact with people and even then they still might try to take you out. I had so many close calls it wasn't funny. I made it through them all because I was ready for it. One was a truck that cut me off. I made eye contact with her but covered my brakes and sure enough she pulled out in front of me. I had to get on the brakes hard to avoid her but I stayed up right and avoided the truck. I was pissed. When I pulled up beside her at the light she was crying. She said she was sorry, said that her uncle rides and because of that she always watches out for motorcycles. She was so upset. I didn't end up getting mad at her.

Roads can be dangerous for anyone but you can make it safer by being aware of what is going on and looking down the road for hazards. That goes for any vehicle.

Oh, good for you that you avoided the accident, I think that you making eye contact sends out the signal that, "Hey watch out!" so in turn the driver will be more quick on his reflexes. I also think motorcycles are more dangerous than cars, so you have to be very careful when driving it. The only pros that you get while riding a motorcycle would be that you get to your destination faster as compared to riding a car.

I'm going to echo my pal Flexin above me and say, yeah, they can be dangerous, but a lot of that depends on the driver. You have to be of the mindset that you're going to be safe and drive defensively

I think you will be a better driver by driving a car/truck like a motorcycle as well.

As far as a getting there faster in a bike. I would disagree if your following speed limits and or there is a dirty road. In a car you can grab your keys, wallet and your on your way. If you are on a bike you need to get your gear on before leaving and take it off when your there. You also should check the weather. Will you need rain gear during your trip? Is the temp going to drop before you get home? Did you remember to recharge your mp3 player before the trip (I don't like a long trip on the motorcycle without music if it is mostly highway.)

With all that said, a lot of trips can be a lot of fun on the bike so it makes up for a lot of that.

I love motorcycles. I started with an old Triumph Tiger Cub (200cc) and went up from there. Eventually as I got older I stopped riding as my reflexes were getting too slow for the speed I loved so much.

Like anything, car, bicycle, skateboard, they can be dangerous if the driver is!

I do. I dont know anything better than sunny and hot day, motorcycle and few friends. Specially Supermotos are fun. You go to some parking lot with friends, do wheelies and stuff with bikes, change place, do it again on somewhere else. I always spend my summer holidays riding my motorcycle, and I reeally much enjoy it.

Maybe because I don't know how to ride regular bicycles, that's why naturally I'm also not into motorcycles. :D But I technically do know how to ride bikes, just the ones with 4 wheels, like a pedicab or side car. And yes, I have also ridden a tricycle many times, since it's very common in our country. :)

I LOVE motorcycles. They can be scary, depending on how seriously the driver takes it. I do not want to be on one with someone that drives unsafe, or does not take it seriously.

I have never rode with a side car. It would be interesting to try. I don't know if I would want to own one. If I had the money an space then it would be interesting to have a classic motorcycle with a side car.

Well, the perks of owning or riding a side car would have to be the space increase for other passengers. Because in a standard motorcycle, you can only take 1 person with you, while if you own or ride a motorcycle with a side car, you can take an additional 2 to 3 passengers with you.

I think that riding on a motorcycle is very dangerous. I've rode on one once and I would never do it again. I don't like the loud noise of a motorcycle and I don't like being exposed to the weather.

I actually know of someone who died while riding a motorcycle. He was a friend of my friend. There were 3 of them riding the motorcycle, if I remember correctly. All 3 of them got hospitalized, and the one who died was the driver. I also have this impression that the wind blowing into your eyes while riding a motorcycle may cause you accidents if ever some dirt gets into your eye and you have to scratch it.

I love motorcycles! For years I rode a bike and loved every minute of it. I've had two bikes. My first bike was an old Honda 305 Dream. Anyone out there remember that one? My second bike was also a Honda but it was a 750 cc and It was my pride and joy. To this day I still miss it. Where I live in Thailand everyone rides a motor bike of some kind. It is much fun but very dangerous the way some owners ride them so one has to be extremely careful when out and about on a bike here.

Hey bigal! Do you remember this one? 1200cc in 1931! It's not a Honda but we've talked about these over a beer a few times!

I love riding motorcycles. I have a yamaha r1. I ride it a lot. The only places I will ride are on local streets. I never go on the highway. I did go once, it was the most scariest experience ever.

Speaking of riding motorcycles on the highway, it reminds me of those pizza delivery boys who rides it on the highway everyday. And since they are usually under time pressure when they deliver the pizza, it's quite a dangerous job, because most of the time, they are probably rushing to deliver the food.

Wearing a helmet with a visor will prevent this. It doesn't stop a lot of dust coming up under the helmet but will stop most dirt, bugs and so on. I wore sunglasses as well so they gave my eyes some protection when my visor was up.

Sorry to hear about your friend. Were all 3 on one motorcycle?
