Since everyone will go through this process and it's inevitable, I'd like to know what do you prefer, do you prefer to be buried or cremated? Or you're filthy rich that your family owns a mausoleum? Here in Asia that's quite common, usually the Chinese people have them. So, how about you, which do you prefer?

I don't really have any request for my funeral. Whichever is most convenient to my family, and cheapest to do. Buried or cremated makes no difference to me when I'm dead because I wouldn't know or feel a thing anyway.

I'm Jewish, and I want more than anything to have a proper Jewish burial, so in order to do that I must be buried and not cremated. So I guess I'll have no choice and be buried. There are cons and pros to both, it's a tough question and I'm glad I don't have to decide to be honest.

I would rather be cremated. I don't have any kids nor do I plan on having any, and I'm the youngest of my siblings, so there is no need for me to be taking up space somewhere in the ground. I think the whole practice of buying caskets and tomb stones is a tremendous waste of money and I would hate to place that financial burden on someone else. I would rather any money I have set aside just go into other peoples pockets that I know and care about. They could use it for far more important things.

Cremate me and dump my ashes in a beautiful sea! Haha. Honestly it really does not matter to me since i would be dead and not know what is going on.

@Trellum, is it strictly prohibited to get cremated as a Jew? Or not really, and it's just a strict tradition?

@dannyboy, I also don't care anymore since I'm dead already, but I think that to save on money, I won't mind being buried in our backyard, lol.

The Jewish law forbids it. Actually the Jewish law is kinda odd in some aspects. Did you know being a religious Jew means to be a really modest person until the end of your life? Instead of dressing you really nicely for your funeral they just wrap you linen shroud, and place you in a really cheap casket, lol. All for the sake of modesty, since cremation equals to damaging your body, and that's not allowed in Judaism, since our bodies are not ours; are G-d's.

Modesty is important in a Jewish burial, so there is no difference between the funeral of a rich or poor person, we are all going to the same place in the end and should be treated equally. I want that for me.

Ah, so when Jewish people die they just wrap you in a simple cloth and that's it? No wake or anything similar to that? That's quite a low-key event then. No dead bodies on display as compared to us Catholics.

Wow, I didn't know. Modesty is a really good thing, having a simple burial means no need for extravagant that inconvenient the friends and family. Not to mention, it's very economically sound too. I like the idea of simplicity and equality.

I prefer what my religion says, that is to be buried. Moreover, thinking about death always make me discomfort.

Nothing to feel uneasy since it's a process that happens to everyone. I don't really care when I'll die, it's inevitable so I just get by as I can everyday. In my religion, dying means I'm going to utopia, it's not bad.

Well, there is a funeral, but is very very short in most cases. The casket is quite simple, nothing fancy, and the wrapping... well everyone use it as a vote of ''modesty''. I've been to christian funerals and I've noticed they always pick something fancy for the dead, I respect that, but I don't want that for me. I'm not the most modest person at times, so when I die s my last chance to be, hehehe :joyful:

You don't want something fancy for a casket? My dad thinks the exact opposite, lol. He just bought a nice looking casket and he did not opt for the cheapest one because he's concerned with what others will think, lol. As for me, I think I would be ok to be buried in our backyard, hehe, no cost at all! :roflmao:

Yeah, I want to be modest in the afterlife ;):hilarious: Plus, I don't think I'd enjoy picking and purchasing a fancy casket, the mere thought of it is rather somber :nailbiting: By the way, what would you prefer?! I'm guessing being buried?? I read about te whole cremation process and it sounded so creppy... boiling brain inside the skull and so on :nailbiting::inpain::hungover: I didn't like that image in my head.

Oh probably being buried too but if they cremate me then I couldn't care less also hehe since I'm dead already. But if I want to live it up and be grand, I wouldn't mind being buried in a mausoleum hehe. But of course I'm just dreaming hehe only the rich people do that.

Mausoleum? I've seen those over here :p I love taking pictures of cemeteries, and mausoleums are one of my favorite objects to take photos of at a cemetery :) I'm attracted to the different designs of the gravestones as well, when I was little and we went to the cemetery I used to read the inscriptions of on the gravestones, I always paid a lot attention to the name and age of the person. Some people buried there awoke my curiosity and often wondered how they ended up there. I think a lot :p

Do you think that some mausoleums look more like a house? A big looking house? The Chinese people over here are the ones that have those. When I'm at the cemetery I also pay attention to the name and age of the person, but I don't really wonder how they died, I only wonder if they died young.

Yeah, really creepy houses! I'd not like to be buried in one, I just want a simple gravestone, with my name and picture, hehehe!!!! By the way, I love cemeteries! I'd like to visit this one one day:

Oh do they look creepy to you? For me it would look creepy if it was dilapidated. Over here in the private cemeteries, the mausoleums look like a large house, as in! Too bad I don't have pictures to show you.
