I'm a bit hesitant to comment but I must say some of the words used by this lady would have been that which Jesus would have spoken, like she'll never leave them and her promising salvation to those who embrace it. You are right, we tend to embrace the teachings of our faith than anything new because as I said before that which is written in the bible is enough for my salvation.

@rosa, Yes it's amazing how being immersed in one belief as a child can make us believe what we cannot see right? I doubt I would believe in what I believe now if my mom wasn't religious. I think Mama Mary was mentioned in the Bible right?

I would rather be buried but I don't have any money or any funeral plans. So IDK whats going to happen, more then likely I am going to get cremated and then I am going to come back and hunt my family for not giving me a proper burial lol.

I would rather be cremated than buried. Even though I would be dead the distribution of my body would be just hideous.

Yes, Mary was mentioned in the bible but to no significant level as some would see it. The bible states that he is no respecter of persons so I doubt he regarded his mother than anyone else.

First of all i will make sure all my organs are donated to the needy and then according to my religious customs i will be burned and the ashes dissolved in the sea or a holy river. It is said to be based on a scientific thought that the river beds will be enriched by minerals from the bones.

The majority of my family members have been buried. I do think that it is important to get insurance so that is possible. I dont really like to think about things like that though.

Is there such a thing as a 'holy river" in these modern times? If yes then where is that?

I don't really care what happens to my body after I am dead because, well, I am dead so how will I know the difference really? I guess I'd really prefer a very simple burial. In this sense, I think people of Muslim faith have it right when they just wash and wrap the body in a white sheet and bury it in the ground. No fancy business, no coffins, or embalming, and giving thousands of dollars to the vultures in the funeral business. Just a simple burial and you are back to the place from whence you came, the earth. I'm not Muslim or very religious (Catholic family) but I really like that kind of burial process.

Ok, so before we part from this topic, we both have the same religion, Christianity. We however, are of different denominations within Christianity. I went to Catholic schools all my school years and I saw more focus been placed on Mary than Jesus so I sought for the reason in the bible and didn't see any reason why it should be. Glad we did end on an understanding term though.

@rosa, are you a Baptist or a Christian? (as you have noticed I don't debate you if your views clash with mine unlike other people, isn't that irritating when someone shoves down their beliefs in your throat?) I also went to a Baptist school in my last 2 years of high school and before that I went to a Catholic school all throughout and it felt weird not having to make the sign of the cross and to have "Bible Studies" as a subject when in the Catholic school we didn't have that. So you don't believe Jesus came from Mary or you just don't like that she is worshiped in the same way like Jesus?

Ah...Ganga Yamuna are still considered sacred, but they are polluted. The concept of holy, takes root from where it originates. The Himalayas is still a sacred place and is renowned for saints,sages..etc.
So,as far as i can tell, even today if you take a dip in those rivers,it is still holy, just a belief.

Well creepy is correct man I don't want to be there at night time think of all of the noises you would hear. Then seeing a ghost coming by is even worse. I would like to be cremated I'll just have someone spread my ashes across the way.

@bala, I hear that the Ganghes River in India is holy eventhough it's very dirty. So I guess you're from India? Correct me if I'm wrong.

@Profit5500, Of course you don't want to scare yourself by going there alone, you should get a companion if you want to explore such places at night. The scare-fest would be a good experience, who knows what you might see right?

Well sidney, I'm not Baptist, which is also of the Christian faith but I am of a different denomination. Christians are worshipers of the God of heaven and usually see other gods as false. I'm happy our correspondence ended that way because I too am never into too much religious debate but I always like to explain to others what I believe and understand of the bible. I went to a Baptist church as a child but then I found that they weren't practicing all the steps to salvation. I do believe everything the bible says of Mary, how she was conceived by the holy ghost and all. I just don't see it in the bible that she should be lauded over Jesus, whom the bible says is the chief.

@rosa, so you think she should just be treated as just a regular human being because she's just human? Well she must be a really special woman then to be chosen by God to bear Jesus for 9 months. She and Joseph must have pure hearts.

Well I know Mary is important being chosen as Jesus' parent along with Joseph but I think there is more focus on her than Jesus and it shouldn't be. I get the impression that many folks could be lead to believe that Mary can do something for them regarding them getting into heaven. However, Jesus said that he is the way, the truth and the life and anyone who wants to see the father must first accept him. Therefore, the focus should be on Jesus, so for me as a Christian who look for answers in the bible, I would have to say Mary is just the the person chosen to bear Jesus and nothing more.

@rosa, My mom always told me that Mama Mary can act as our intercessor so that we can go to heaven because she "builds us up" to her son Jesus, so that's the reason why we Catholics worship her too, she has a "say" in how things go up there. After all, she is the mother of Jesus so she must have a big role up there. A quick search also led me to this post which encourages us to have a devotion to Mary: https://ph.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080812001443AAomPMa

So what do you think? Don't you think she can influence God to be more in favor of us when we pray to her?

    yeah..an Indian here..:D :D
No denying that it ain't holy...
Oh,FYI..the government breeds certain kind of turtles and releases them into the river to eat off the corpses floating..(The "pure" corpses that are set afloat). The ganges also has a self purifying technique,meaning..all the murky ones settle down and bacteria eat them up..
There have been measures to get it back to normalcy..but you really can't correct the people..can you...?
