Dubai police buy Mercedes SLS, Bentley GT and ultra-rare Aston Martin

All those exotic police cars chasing us in "Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit" used to be the ultimate car game fantasy. Now, it's just another day in Dubai.

This week, the city's cash-rich police force added a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, Bentley Continental GT and the super-rare Aston Martin One-77 to its supercar patrol fleet. They're on display at a travel expo all week.

That's on top of the Lamborghini Aventador the department received last month to "enhance its patrolling abilities," as much as a half-million-dollar car with scissor doors and light bars can be taken seriously. For low-ranking traffic officers, there's a Camaro SS. Another pursuit Ferrari FF is strictly reserved for its female officers.

Wow, that's great for Dubai police and chasing criminals never been easier. I wish Indian Police could buy some cars like this. But unfortunately they never do that as they always stick with some Mahindra cars.

Heh, couldn't this increase the rate of petty crimes? Who wouldn't shoplift a piece of gum to get a ride in one of those? :)

How come first world countries like the US and the UK have never done such a thing yet? They're being left behind by Dubai already!

One Lambo could pay for 3-5 normal Police car. A couple Lambos would destroy a departments budget for a year or maybe two. I Dubai they have way more money. With more money you have people with more expensive and faster cars. If you have a lot of fast cars you need something that can catch it. Plus Dubai doesn't really cheap out when they do something. They want the biggest and the fastest.

I know there were some State Police that had some Mustangs and Camaros as highway patrol cars. I don't think you will ever see them with that line up of cars.

Also, Sidney according to the article this car is not really going to be used but placed in a high traffic area. But who knows? As James says, they have tons of expendable money!

Oh well, the perks of being a country rich in oil. People say that you could walk around there in heavy jewelry and covered in gold and you won't get mugged at all, that's how rich the people in there are. The police probably aren't that thrilled to ride those expensive cars because they have one at home already, lol.

Dubai seems to be an amazing place with the richest police man but they themselves have some fear of getting their Lambos or Bentley stolen!!

I wish they would also arrest me so I can ride in one of those. Also I think the economy is bad in the US because we can't afford any of those cars.

I will avoid being arrested regardless of what car they want to transport me in. Jail is no fun!

I see, so it seems that it's only the US that hasn't caught up with the "police sports car fever" yet. If only they used the money that they spent on those senseless wars in upgrading their police vehicles, then the taxpayer's money would have been spent in a better way.

They're rolling in cash! All that oil money gets them some sweet high powered police cars. I'm sure it's a bit overkill since I doubt that they even go over 50 let alone have a police chase.

Dang, must be tough on criminals over there! Oh, how great it would be to be a part of that police force.

That's a police force out of Miami vice or something. They really like using high performance cars on the street. Because they pack on so many miles I could imagine the maintenance it would cost for those cars.
