Are you ever annoyed with people who tailgate you? This is very disgusting as well as scary. When people tailgate me or anybody else, there could be many possibilities. I always drive within the speed limit, sometimes going over by 5 - 10 miles. I never speed up to appease the jerk tailgating me and yet I don't want to have to deal with some road rage nutcase. Either way, the person usually go around me. How do you handle someone who tailgates you?

I was rear ended about 18 years ago. For a good year or two I would freeze up if someone was tailgating me. Then I would get really pissed off. I have flashed my brake lights (just tapping it, not braking) to let them know. Sometimes it works. Sometimes the don't care. If you want to avoid road rage it would be best to pull over when you find a safe spot and let the driver with things to get to that are much more important then your safety pass on by.

Front and rear dash cams would come in handy in cases like this.

I agree with the finding a place and pulling off of the road if possible. It seems like we have more and more angry drivers, and it is not safe on the road sometimes.
What I used to do was the tap my brakes thing, and like Flexin says, sometimes that is all it takes. usually the first chance they get, they will make a mad dash to get around you, and that ends the problem. Sometimes, I just gradually slow down, and that definitely encourages people to pass you. Of course, you can't do this in places where it is dangerous for them to pass, or it could cause a wreck.
But speeding up usually doesn't help either, they just speed up and stay right on your bumper.

This happens mostly when a bus is at my rear. They love tailgating vehicles then they come to a sudden stop when they see a passenger. It kinda irks me. Like the others, I also let the vehicle behind me overtake me. I get distracted a little bit if somebody gets too close to my rear especially if the vehicle that's behind me is a large vehicle like a truck or a bus. Sometimes, when a car tailgates me at night, I let him pass then I switch on my bright lights and tailgate him in return. :D

Fortunately, I haven't been rear ended ever and I hope that I never will.

Gradually slow down 5-6mph and they usually get the point that they don't control your speed. Probably not the safest choice but I don't usually do it on roads with speed limits more than 50mph

It makes me nervous at times having someone tailgating me, especially if I am not in a familiar area. I always choose to allow the person to go round so I can get back to focusing on the road.

I get really annoyed when people tailgate me, I'm like what is the hurry? Don't they ever realize that the car in front might slow down or brake. I especially hate it when I'm looking for a parking space and the car behind sticks to my back.

When I can, I pull-over. When I'm for example in the left lane over-taking and they keep tailgating me too close, I floor it, leave them behind and go back on the right lane, letting them pass. I floor it so I at least have a safety distance until I can pull back to the right lane.

When on normal roads, I had that case when I over-took a woman, she got pissed off I have no idea why and decided to tailgate me, but she was crazy, completely fool. I was driving an old car that was going to be scrapped so I kept braking, I once smashed my foot on the brakes, as hard as I could. She almost crashed(she had an a lot superior car, with ABS and such) and then decided to stand a bit back. She then over-took me in a dangerous curve, carelessly. She had a kid inside, we followed her and when she pulled over we told her off how dangerous she was and the danger she was putting her kid in.
