That's really interesting :) I'm going to travel to the Netherlands with my boyfriend to meet his parents on january next year, but I really dread the long hours sitting inside the plane all cramped... I've such a bad luck I'm sure there will be a crying baby next to me all the way to Amsterdam, with my luck the same situation will repeat itself when I go back home :D

I'm sure you'll have some good movies to watch. Try making a 12 hours travel Lisbon-London-Tokyo and not being able to sleep 1 minute... When I went out of the plane I was seeing everyone's eyes funny... :D

I have been by car to Canada and Mexico from the United States. It had been a few years, but I was surprised how difficult the US-Canada border has become. Have not been to Mexico lately and would definately not go while there are so many warnings and advisories.

I use these phillips noise canceling headphones for my transatlantic flights. Very good at quieting down noise from the other passengers. At about $30, they are a great deal for what you get.

Omg!!! That's awesome, but... what if you're sitting close to the aisle? Specially when there is a women sitting with a kid next to you... and the kid keeps passing tru during the whole flight. That's so annoying and it has happened to me a lot in the past! Anyways, I'll try to get those headphones! The ideal thing would be sitting next to the window while wearing those headphones ;) Sadly my seat is next to the aisle (so I can go to pee when I want).

You should be able to log in to your reservation and change your seat right up until it is time to check in to your flight. For flights that are far out in advance, I might change my seat 6 to 8 times as I watch the seating chart and take seats that open up. The headphones can't cancel everything naturally, but they do help.

I, unfortunately, have never been outside the US. I would love to travel and see what else is out there in this big world of ours but don't have the money for it right now. I would love to visit other countries and see their cultures because I know seeing it in person is way butter than just watching it on tv.

Hi Randee, I don't have a lot cash right now as well, but the chance presented itself so well I just couldn't say no  I'm a few days away from my trip, and I can't help but to feel nervous about the long transatlantic flight. I hope you get to see the world one day, you will surely dread plane flights, hehehe!

I have only visited one country so far, the Us. I've gone to Florida, New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. All these times were just vacations which I enjoyed. It is my wish to visit other countries in Europe and the Caribbean in the future.

Hi Rosa! That sounds awesome, to be honest I think traveling abroad is way over rated, lol. I say because of the long flights, the flights really kill it for me! I just came back from Holland, and man... wasn't I tired after one day traveling!!! Long flights are awful.

I don't like to travel to be honest. I'm a lazy person and prefer to stick to someplace I'm familiar with. Besides, I find that going on vacation is actually more tiring than everyday work. Every time I return from a vacation, I feel so burned out and have to rest a few days.

I've been to Doha, Qatar on a consulting assignment when I was 27. I had a choice of going to the U.S. but I declined since I did not want to shift long-term. So, that's a missed opportunity. Now, I am planning to go to U.K. in the next week. Again business related work.

So Trellum, did you enjoy your stay in Holland? I like travelling but most preferably on land. Each time that I am to go by air I get butterflies in my stomach. I really hate it but there is no other way so I just keep a brave heart and do it.

Yeah, I enjoyed it a lot :) I'm actually looking forward to visiting that place again and hopefully settle there next year. We will see how things go, Rosa. The only thing I didn't liked about this trip was the long flight! When I was coming back I was feeling just awful, because we were stuck for two hours at the runaway not being able to take off. Then other 8 hours in the air to get to America, then 4 hours to get home again, lol.

I know what you mean, I just came back from a long trip and the first days were hell! I felt even more tired that when I left, lol. It took me so many days to get over the jet lag! The first night were just horrid!

Sorry to hear you missed a big opportunity, I did that more than once in the past and I'm really regretting it now, because I'd be better financially speaking! Ah well, to late to cry over spilled milk, right? Better to move on and look forward to the future! Best of luck with your trip to the UK!

I haven't yet been outside of the US. I live in Florida, and the only other state that I've been to is Georgia. I would eventually like to travel, but I have neither the time nor the money for that at the moment.

I travelled to Hong Kong once and came back all messed up. My biological clock went crazy for three days before returning to normal. Nothing felt right, it was not good so I make sure not to travel too far ever again. I'd rather take the time and return to my hometown instead.

I was in the Netherlands, and the exact same thing happened to me; twice! It happened when I just arrive (took me nearly one week to get use to the time difference) , but it was far worse when I got back home! It's been almost 2 weeks and my sleeping pattern isn't exactly the same!!! I don't like holidays to places that are too far away. What were you doing in Hong Kong, btw?

Don't worry, Rob, as long as there is life there is time! That's what my mother has always said, so don't worry if you can't travel abroad at the time, sometimes traveling in your own country is more enriching.
