-The word Porsche usually brings to mind images of sleek, fast, and stylish sports cars. A little-known fact is that Porsche also built and designed tractors, like this beautifully restored 1959 Porsche-Diesel Super.

Since Porsche wasn’t allowed to continue producing tractors after World War II, the firm sold manufacturing rights for its diesel-tractor engine to several companies, including Allgaier GmbH, which in turn created its own tractor design to match the engine. In the mid-1950s, Mannesmann AG purchased the rights to the Porsche engine design as well as the tractor design from Allgaier and shortly thereafter launched the Porsche-Diesel line of tractors.

The tractors were available in four trim levels—Junior, Standard, Super, and Master. (The Junior and Super models were the most popular in the States.) By 1964, Mannesmann AG wrapped up production of what would be the last Porsche-badged tractors ever made.

This particular Porsche-Diesel Super is equipped with a 2.6-liter three-cylinder engine rated at 38 horsepower. Power is sent to the giant wheels via a five-speed gearbox. The seller claims that this ’59 Porsche has been fully restored and has seen only 35 miles since then. Given its $59,900 asking price, we’re not sure how quickly this tractor will sell, but we’re confident that it will never see the muddy side of a field again.
