rousey .jpg Ronda Rousey is fighting in the main event at the next UFC. She is the first woman fighter signed on with the UFC and few think she will lose this first UFC female battle.
The big question is whether she will get into the ring with Cris Cyborg, who incidentally is now managed by Tito Ortiz who is a retired UFC great. Cyborg fights at a 10 pound heavier weight class.
Ronda has maintained Cyborg will have to drop down.
That contest has yet to be signed.

Sorry it is not the next UFC event it is the one after it on Feb. 23. Opps My mistake.
"It will come on Feb. 23, 2013, when Ronda Rousey fights Liz Carmouche in the main event ofUFC 157. The history-making show will take place at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif., ending years of long-held belief that the organization would never promote women's fights in the octagon."

It is good to see the UFC support the women. Is she the one that was fighting for the same company that Kimbo was fighting for?

Ronda is an Olympic medalist in Judo. Her specialty is apparently the arm bar.
She was a champion with an MMA group known as Strikeforce I think. She also fought for the King of the Cage company. I think it was there she started as an MMA professional. There have been a number of different MMA groups, they have come and gone. Next to UFC the other big name was Pride, based in Japan. UFC bought them I think.
I don't think that Strikeforce is the same one that Kimbo was with. But there is also a fair bit of movement with the UFC being the NFL of MMA.

I'm looking forward to that event. Not only is she a good fighter she is very attractive too. That should be some event! It is about time the UFC recognized the ladies. They can put on a better show in my opinion than the guys.:)

Ronda is still a one trick pony until she proves otherwise, she hasn't finished on anyone outside of the armbar and some are saying her game is weak outside of being quick to look for an armbar.

She's a monster, she looks like she's juicing in the pic above, and she's smart in pulling a heavier fighter down instead of raising a weight class but until she proves she can do more than lay down an armbar she's still not in the elite level imo. You know her competition will be ultra careful of not giving up an arm from here on out.

Some speculate Ronda does not want to get into the ring with Cris Cyborg, who previously was the high profile female MMA fighter. Cris apparently has a walk around weight of like 170 pounds and fights at 145.
Ronda wants her to come down to 135.
UFC's president Dana White is apparently very supportive of Ronda and not so much of Cyborg who is not at this point a UFC signed fighter.

This seems like an interesting match. It's been a while since I saw an exciting match in UFC. It's even more exciting to see a women's match.

Really? I only saw a part of the last heavyweight title match on the internet between Cain and Junior. I thought that would qualify as an exciting match. And that was not that long ago. I don't know, I find that the UFC has some pretty interesting matches.
I have never been at a live match but only watched on the internet or via DVD.

The UFC keeps jumping on the latest buzz to promote new fighters but there doesn't seem to be much long term loyalty for any fighter. People who aren't MMA addicts have no clue, nor do they care to get one, who is signed up with who and such.

Dana White should be promoting the UFC platform, not the fighter of the minute. The NFL is a good example of why the league needs to promote the league and let the teams promote themselves.

Dana White did a job making UFC into what it is. There must have been tense moments along the way when it looked like it would crash and burn. But White it seems is a bit too ready to take on the fighters in different kinds of battles. He fought with Tito, he fought with Randy, he fought with Rampage, etc. He even had a battle with Big John. Sure the man is aggressive and hard nosed. But sometimes I think he likes his profile to be right up there with that of the athletes. Now it seems he is pro Ronda and anti Cris.
But there are profile fighters, including George St. Pierre and Cain and others.
I actually can't say who is with the other organizations and groups but I can with UFC to a degree and I could with Pride. Not so much with the others.

Seems like Dana has now got into a battle with another great, this time hall of fame member and
huge figure in UFC history Randy Couture. The Natural has now signed on with a competitor, and Dana the great diplomat has nothing good to say about the former Lt Heavy and Heavyweight title holder and
former ringside UFC commentator and Hall of Fame member.
Dana could have simply said I wish Randy well but I guess that is not his style. Oh well.
So that makes Tito and Randy and earlier on Frank Shamrock. These big names come to mind right away.
Oh and Big John McCarthy, the iconic referee. And Cris Cyborg. I am sure this is not a complete list.
