Clean your place out really well. If you've been considering getting new furniture, now is the time to do it. In fact the several hundred you are spending per month on smokes could go towards a new couch or bed set. Scrub the walls, floors and everything really well to get the smell out. Then if you do have a weak moment, make it a point to only go outside to smoke - no smoking in the house. You should also clean all your clothes really well to get the smoke odors out of them too. Perhaps even donate your old stuff to charity and invest in some new smoke free clothes.

Well in my opinion, to quit smoking is a thing of the mind. First you must make up your mind that you will never smoke again then you go to work by planning to stop. You can start by disciplining yourself to reduce the quantity you take. From one packet, you reduce it to half packet then to five sticks and then one stick and finally no stick at all. But you require lot of discipline to follow this simple tips.

Yeah, definitely not that easy. I heard as well that to spontaneously quit smoking is actually not good to your system. The best thing to do is like what you have said, to do it little by little. I heard a story from someone, she knows one person who was really a chain smoker then one day, she quitted smoking immediately, without taking it slowly and then afterwards her whole immune system got weaker and she died afterwards. Creepy, crazy and sad.

Have you considered taking electronic cigarettes? It might help take away the cravings.

I have heard that electronic cigarettes are even more harmful than the real ones. Well, I did not personally do right research about that, so I can not support that with facts for now.

Really? How come it's more harmful than real cigarettes when it doesn't even contain nicotine?

Electronic cigarette contains liquid nicotine but not tobacco. This nicotine is said to be heated up and turns into favor which can be inhaled and exhaled of the user. According to experts, there are no claims of its safety, only manufacturers are claiming that it is actually safe. There are still a lot of doubts on this.

I believe that one of the main factors to quit smoking, lose weight or any other personal achievement that involves a personal sacrifice starts with the right approach to our willpower, which is the strength of will to carry out one's decisions, wishes, or plans, but people use it in the inverse way; a strength to avoid rather than to attain.

This is what keep people feeling cravings to get back on cigarettes, but if your start by educating your willpower, all other methods and tips that you use to achieve your purpose will really work with easiness.

Yes, you really need a lot of will power to totally turn your back from smoking, especially if you are the type who been smoking already fo a long time. I know someone who told me about how hard it was also for him to do the change, although he was really willing to do it, his taste buds was really against it, he told me that having candy instead will help you resist the craving for smoke.

Good luck, my guy has been trying to quit smoking for a while now and he hasn't been lucky. I guess there are no real tricks to succed at this... you just need to really want to quit doing it; willpower. He can't leave it becuase he has a very weak willpower, and he doesn't have a better thing to do when he is bored. He just lacks willpower, he saw how wonderful he felt without smoking, but decided to do it again!

I see, then I guess you should just start by lessening your daily cigarette intake, like reducing 1 stick per week, then another 2 sticks the next week, until your body gets used to smoking less sticks.

I can relate to him :). How many times I tried it already but I always come back to it after a while. Yes, especially if you are bored or say after meal or say while having coffee and another one, when you are stressed, oh cigarette is just the hero. OMG. Sounds like this really won't be that easy!

Ow but you can keep trying :) He's still trying, and now he smokes only 5 ciggies a day :D It's quite an improvement because he used to smoke even more than that... at least 13 ciggies a day!!! Yikes!!! So how many ciggies you smoke a day? He went only two days smoke-free, but after that lowered to just 5 to 4 ciggies a day.

I used to smoke one pack sometimes in one sitting, but then I reduced it to one pack a day, but now that I am really exerting effort to stop smoking, it really got better.I am totally smoking now less than before. Now when I smoke, I can consume sometimes like 5 or ok more sticks a day, but not more than 10 ok, lol! I think I can do it though, but I want to get to the point where I won't touch even one smoke, that way I know I could totally stop puffing.

Wow, that sounds like quite an accomplishment! Going from two packs to just 5 daily is awesome! I keep telling my boyfriend he should focus on the fact he is smoking less now! Sometimes smoking less is as good as smoking nothing, because I believe that as long as you keep trying and keep this rythm, then you will eventually get there :)

Yes, it is an accomplishment but that you know, it took me years to reach that point. :) But yeah, you really need focus to do that. But I would say smoking less is better than smoking a lot :) but the best would be not smoking at all I think. But to totally accomplish that, I think would still need a lot of patience.

Yeah, I can imagine. My boyfriend says he's only smoking 5 a day, but I believe the number is a bit higher ;) I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt, but also trying to be understanding; this habit is really hard to beat!! So I don't expect him to stop completely anytime soon. Have you tried the nicotin patches?
