I think they are doing a terrible job. Way too many bonehead plays and they are throwing flags way too late. Guys are getting ready to snap the ball for the next play when a flag comes out.

The worst was the Denver/Atlanta game the other night. The refs misplaced the ball 2 times on the last drive of the half giving Manning an extra six yards. And in the preseason the ball landed on the 4 yard line on a punt and they called it a touchback.

Give the refs some money and let them come back!

I didn't attend nor watch the game, but I heard about their erratic way and I cannot yet digest all what happened that night.

Anytime you bring someone new in, you're going to have some mistakes made. I'm not all that concerned.

At times it seems ok but then something stupid happends. As they get more time on the big stage I thing things will improve but why wait? Bring back the pros.

Thank god this replacement ref nightmare is over! Everyone has already pretty much forgotten about it too which is great.

The replacements are doing the best they can, but they just don't have the experience of the fulltimers. They are just sorry when it comes to making calls and they don't have the confidence in themselves to make unpopular calls. I am soooo glad that the lockout is finally over and we can go back to watching football the way it was meant to be watched.

I have been a football fan since I was a child and I can't remember when if ever there were replacement refs. used before. Although I did not agree with some of the calls they made I also understood the difficulty they faced being called at the last minute to call the games. Still I think if they knew in advance the possibility they were going to be called on to call some games they should have been better prepared. What do you think?

I have been watching football ever since my early childhood and have seen quite a few bad refs in my time, but these were just an utter disgrace. I'm just thankful they're gone.

Referees are also human beings and are prone to mistakes. I would like to see some involvment of technology to avoid mistakes like this.

I think most sports already incorporate enough technology in helping and correcting the refs. One sport I think really needs to get some tech involved is Soccer, especially during major events like Euro or the World Cup. These events happen once every four years and I've seen many calls that have contributed to teams leaving early making them wait another four years to play in the tournament.

I don't watch much soccer so I haven't thought of it. So they don't do instant replay or anything at all in soccer?

A little off topic but I am hating on the refs who handled the Ottawa Senator vs Montreal Canadian games last week. Montreal was getting called for everything, including things they didn't do, while Ottawa was able to get away with things that put people in hospital. One goal Ottawa scored was an exact replay of a goal Montreal scored the night before, only the Ottawa goal was allowed and the Montreal goal was not.

HUGELY unfair reffing - they even threw out 10x more Canadians at the faceoff than Senators. Just wrong.

No they don't! and they really need it. The what I guess you would call linesmen are constantly running up and down the field trying to call "offsides". But the biggest issue that's happened more then once, is the ball hits the cross bar, crosses the goal line but bounces back out and the goal isn't counted. I'm really hoping they introduce some instant replay at least for big tournaments for world cup and the euro cup.

I'm guessing you must be a habs fan?. I know this isn't the forum to say this but but habs fans are the second biggest complainers in hockey (second only to vancouver fans). Habs fans are the only ones in hockey that will cheer when they think a penalty will be called, and then boo if one isn't. And I say this and I'm not a Sens fan by any means.
