Who is into camping and how do you like to camp?

Do you go to a camp ground or do you camp in the woods?

Do you use a tent or trailer?

I have to start getting gear together to take the wife and kids camping soon. I promised them I would once we bought the Jeep. The wife wants to do a camp ground. One she camped at as a child. I want to go off road in the Jeep and camp somewhere. We will do her camp ground first and I will get my trip in at some point.

I was forced to go camping a lot as a child because my parents were really into it. I think that it reminded them of times gone by, when they were younger. We went camping with just me and my two parents, and at other times, several family members came along in their own vehicles. A lot of camping, a lot of worm buying, a lot of fishing, and tons of road traveling.

My parents bought a motor home and joined something called CampOutWest, which is some kind of campground company or something. They have campgrounds all over, so we traveled to quit a few of those sites. It was fun for the most part, because we were in a motor home. Don't know how I would feel about sleeping in a tento_O:meh:. I agree with your wife about going to a campground.

I think "roughing it" is a splendid idea, as long as one kind of has certain creature comforts.

So you didn't use a tent at all? Sleeping in a tent isn't all that bad.

My wife might be on board with my roughing it trip a little more now. The camp sites she wants are all booked and she likes the cost of the roughing it idea. LOL. We will see what happens.

I'm really interested in the RTT (Roof Top Tents). You park, flip it open and within minutes you are set up. Fold it up and you are on your way. Mount it on a trailer and you can set up your camp and disconnect from the trailer. Then you are free to go play off road and then come back to your site. Hook up the trailer, fold up, pack up and you are on your way. The trailer can be set up to go at anytime. Load up your coolers and your on your way. It wouldn't be cheap.

Good grief, has it really been over two weeks since you wrote this reply? I read this awhile ago, but my, how time flies. Life. At any rate, in answer to your question, and please forgive me for the lateness of the reply (not the first time, won't be the last) no, I never stayed in a tent when we went camping, only in the motor home.
I'm glad we didn't do tents, because nothing about sleeping in a tent sounds fun to me at all, unless that tent is pitched right next to a motor home so that one can go get into said motor home at any time.

    Roughing it seems so uncivilized.

    More later...

People get busy. I have been pretty busy myself lately.

A camper would be nice but a rent can be fun. I camped in the back yard with cousins as a child.

My kids seem to love it. A camper would be nice but I will stick with the tent. If I was looking at campers I would start looking at boats.

I used to go camping quite a bit in my youthful days. It was for hunting and fishing, but also boating and general farting around. This day and age, I don't really camp. However, I do live on property in the woods so the family and I do go for hikes, etc.
