If you're having a conversation with someone else in the vehicle, don't turn to look at them during the conversation. I hate it when I see people doing this. It's worse than talking on a phone, and almost as bad as texting and driving. Drive the car.

Check your mirrors regularly. Most drivers only mind what is in front of them, but often there are hazards lurking behind you and being aware of them will only do you lots of good. Especially when changing lanes or trying to overtake. Also when parking, you mirrors will definitely help you to see where you are going.

A safe driving tip from me is to service your car regularly. If your car is in good shape then you are not a hazard on the road to yourself or other road users and therefore are looking at your own safety.

Okay this is bang on the money. And I have to say I see this a lot.
Anyway I see it and I think, please pay attention to the freakin' road and not your friend, even if
you were told to look at people when you are talking to them. This is a special situation and watching the
road does not qualify as being rude. I have to say I think the most common offenders on this
are often young female drivers. Their social conditioning is winning over their road sense.

    Read the scene ahead...

What I mean by that is don't just look at what is happening directly in front of you but look beyond that. What junctions and turnings are coming up? Is there any bends? Sections of the road where someone may attempt to overtake.. etc

    I always read ahead...

Try to never get distracted and always remember YOU control the car, not the other way around.

My safe driving tips would be always follow traffic rules. There are accidents happened wherein a driver wasn't following traffic rules. Beating the red light is one of it. Other drivers who are in a hurry tend to cross the line even in traffic lights is in red light, and so accidents happen. Don't go over the specified driving speed for a certain street to avoid accidents as well. If you feel drowse when you are driving, never attempt to continue driving and just stop and rest for a minute in order to avoid accidents along the way. These are just one of the basic things a driver should remember to be safe while driving.

This is obviously common sense, but my #1 rule is to make sure that I only drive when I'm in a good mental state. I insist on not driving when tired or after taking most medicine, it's just not worth the risk getting behind the wheel without having perfect reaction times.

If you have to be somewhere at a certain time such as an appointment, leave about 20 minutes early so if there is an accident or extra traffic on the road you can still make it on time without racing!

Always look at the top 1/3 of your windshield. In other words, don't just stare at the car immediately in front of you, but pay attention to obstacles and vehicles ahead. It will help you anticipate situations and drive more comfortably by understanding why the cars in front of you are slowing down or hitting the brakes.

My safe driving tip would be to pay attention to how the drivers around you are behaving and anticipate what they might be about to do. You can often see people checking their mirrors or slowing down/speeding up when they're about to change lanes. If you notice this sort of behavior you can slow down slightly and give them space to change lanes in case they haven't seen you or misjudged the gap or your speed.

Also I think when we're on the road we need to leave our ego's behind. Sometimes we see other drivers doing something we think is wrong or pushy, but it's not a good idea to not let them merge in, or tail gate them. This just puts you in a dangerous positions, and having a crash is not worth proving a point.

    Were do I start.
Drive in the lanes accordingly, if you want to go 50mph on the freeway, then get out of the fast lane!
If you cut someone off, SPEED UP!
Be observant (this is the most important of all)
Use your blinkers if you are close to other cars.
    Don't tailgate.
    Don't rubberneck.
    Don't text.
If your upset, maybe chill out then drive again.

One thing I always say is always keep your seat belt on no matter what. People always find it uncomfortable to wear but its for your own safety. Its just like wearing protection when you going and have intimacy, its to save you. By the way another safety tip when driving is always keep your eyes on the road. The worst thing when driving is to always turn your face to talk to someone or look at whats going on on the side, that's a serious solution to an accident. Be careful and drive safely.

I would always drive on the right speed. There is nothing worse than speeding cause its too hard to gain control at a high speed. If you hit someone at a slow speed, its better than a high speed. There will be less damages. I would always look left and right before making any kind of moves cause cars just creep out of no where. I make sure that my car brakes work, and everything else works. I have a phone to use just in case I'm in an emergency. I know my towing company number. I look everywhere. I avoid busy streets.

My safe driving tip is simply, use courtesy to other drivers on the road. This can actually save a lot of accidents. When being passed by a semi truck, blink your headlights to signal them that they can pull back over in front of you.
If you pass a disabled vehicle, or an animal in the road ( or even on the edge), blink to signal oncoming vehicles of the danger.

Also, another tip: always slow down and look closely when driving at night, and you see something in the road. A friend saw what looked like several white chickens crossing the road, then remembered chickens roost at nite, slowed down just in time to miss a large black horse with four white feet that was loose and walking on the road.

My safe driving tip involves your side and rear view mirros. Make it a habit to know exactly where vehicles are around you by glancing behind you regularly. If something unexpected happens in front of you there may not be enough time to look around and so knowing where you have an out is important.

Another tip is to try and avoid accidents by steering away from them, I can't tell you how many accidents I've seen where one car just slams on the brakes and plows straight ahead. Steering even a couple of feet off to the side could have prevented the accident all together.
