Lebron James - the prodigal son

Have you heard of the story of the prodigal son? Well, that's exactly what Lebron James is right now. He was the darling of Cleveland, the hero... Then he left it for Miami in order to win "not two, not three, not four" championships (he won two actually)... Then he got badly beaten in the finals by the Spurs. I dunno what went through his mind. Maybe he thought that he would not win a championship with Wade and Bosh again or maybe he just wanted to get a higher salary. But the fact is, he's back in Cleveland.

I, myself, would have liked to see LeBron play with Kobe. I mean, that would have been a great thing to see if you ask me, but it didn't happen so, that's that. I think it's good that LeBron is going back to Cleveland if that is someplace that's going to make him happy, and get him close to home. He's going back to someplace familiar, so the transition is kind of easy for him.

Of course he's the darling of Cleveland. He's the darling of the NBA, players like him aren't made, they're born. He's a rare talent, and even basketball fans of other teams that "hate" him, really love him. Cleveland was mad for awhile, and some people are probably still mad, but they'll get over it when he steps on the court and starts helping them win games.

 

If I may, let me speak on this

First off, let me just say that I'm lovin' Cleveland right about now. I'm infatuated with Johnny Manziel, watched some of his first day at training camp, loved it. And of course I adore LeBron, so Cleveland is making it's mark on the sports world right about now.

I adore LeBron's wife, and I like the team that he has around him, hopefully this move will be good for everybody in his circle (I'm talking like I personally know these people, which I don't, but you get my meaning).

He probably still has some feelings of distaste about how the fans treated him when he left, but he probably also can understand why certain fans would be so upset. Sometimes people think that they own an athlete when that athlete plays for "their" city, especially when it's somebody like LeBron, because there is nobody like LeBron.

That being said, despite the disgruntled fans that gave him a hard time, and of course despite that infamous letter from Dan Gilbert, I think that LeBron feels like Cleveland will make him happy, so he's going to go back home.

As a businessman who knows about the very big business of basketball, and as a competitor and lover of the game, I'm sure that he is going to do everything within his power to make sure that Cleveland wins a championship. I would be very surprised if they don't win at least one championship in the next few years. That being said, I don't think he has to worry about looking bad.

 

Yeah, playing with Kobe in LA would have been nice. It would greatly increase the chances of the Lakers winning a championship. However, I dunno if their styles would mesh. Well, they at least played together for team USA and they did a great job. Anyways, I'm happy that Jeremy Lin is already with LA. That's a consolation price for the Lakers.

Nah, I don't think he'll look bad. There would be those who would call him a quitter but eventually, they'll understand. I also do think that they would win a championship (if he doesn't switch teams a bit too soon).

 

LeBron with Kobe in LA would have been so sweet, I can't even stand it. I mean, just the thought of those two playing on the same team almost makes me speechless, but alas, it didn't happen so what can you do?

I think that their two styles would mesh easily in that they both like to win, and they both will do whatever it takes to win. Kobe doesn't play around when it comes to his whole preparation and approach to the game of basketball, it's his passion, he loves it. LeBron is the exact same way, but in his own way.
In my opinion they are kindred spirits when it comes to winning and therefore, that would make them mesh well together.

In LeBron, Kobe would not have had the same challenges that he had with Shaq. Shaq was a beast, but didn't have the discipline to stay up to the level where he could have been, that's why these days he's doing commentary at the the TNT desk, and Kobe is still out playing on the court. The fact that Shaq was traded so many times at the end of his playing career speaks volumes. He should have Never, Ever been on the auction block.

I remember years ago when Shaq was still playin' ball, MTV featured his house on MTV cribs. Shaq had a cigar lounge in his house. I was like "Really??" I mean, come on.

I like Jeremy Lin, the boy can play. But he's no LeBron. Still I know that Lin will bring a lot to the table, and if Lin is receptive to certain types of instruction, he can learn a lot from Kobe.

I think that LeBron is gonna help Cleveland win a couple of championships. Whether he helps them win or whether they don't win, some people are still gonna talk bad about that man. He won't be able to please everybody.

 

The league would never allow Kobe and Lebron on the same team LOL. Well maybe they would now because Kobe is a shell of his former self. If Cleveland lands some good guards like they did Wiggins, Cleveland can definitely capture a championship.

 

Ugh!! You did not just call Kobe a shell of his former self?! You should be arrested!!

Well, maybe not arrested, but come on wulfman, really? Do we really have to talk that way about one of the greatest to ever play the game of basketball? In my humble opinion, Kobe on his worst day is better than some of these players on their best day. He has the passion, the drive, the commitment to the game and to the process of winning that many of these players lack. He may not be able to fly through the air like 19 year old Kobe did, but I think that--that man can still get the job done.

Do you seriously, honestly believe that the league would never allow Kobe and LeBron on the same team if Kobe was "his former self"?
I think the league would be waaaay overstepping their boundaries if they ruled against them playing together.

Wiggins? I just read today that he's getting traded.

 

Hahahaha. This post is funny. I like LeBron because I see him as a business man doing a job he loves. I don't understand some of animosity against him. Sure he made a bad decision in terms of how he handle the move from Cleveland to Miami but he learned from it. I didn't understand why he was vilify then. It made no sense to me. I've never read any bad press on his personal life and he isn't afraid to speak his mind on issues outside of sports. I'm not a fan of Cleveland at all but I do have respect for LeBron James.
