    What It Is:
Two versions of Chrysler’s flagship 300 sedan, both caught rumbling around Detroit with baggy covers on their front fascias, hoods, and rear ends. The camouflage is designed to obscure the changes Chrysler has in store as part of a 2015 model-year refresh. The car wearing light-finished multispoke aluminum wheels is a regular 300—either a 300C or a 300S—and the 300 rolling on dark-colored five-spoke wheels appears to be the high-performance 300 SRT model. I'm a big fan of the 300. I love what Chrysler did with the 200. Haven't had a chance to drive the new 200 but I love the styling. I'm thinking the 300 will only have minor changes compared to the 2014. I wouldn't mind having one parked in my driveway next to my Jeep.

You. have. GOT. to. be. kidding? You like this car??o_O:facepalm:
    You're a big fan of the 300??:nailbiting:

No offense to your liking this particular monstrosity... I mean vehicle, but let me be honest when
I say that few cars, if ANY, have ever aggravated
me as much as the Chrysler 300:yuck:.
Do you ever listen to Katt Williams? I mean, he has a filthy mouth, but he's kind of funny.
Ever heard his bit about the Chrysler 300, how people say, "I got it because it looks like a Phantom..."??

Ugh. The make of this car irritates me:grumpy:.

Not joking at all. What about the car do you not like? Have you driven one? I have drove a few of them. Different ones. The newest ones are the best so far. I love the car. Comfortable. Nice power. Good size. I love the look. And isn't too expensive. With the 3.6L V6 (like my Jeep engine) mated to a 8 speed auto, you can get 44 mpg highway. And you can get 32 or 36 with the Hemi's.

What is there not to like about it?

BTW I'm not worried about what others think of it. I'm also not worried about what they think it looks like or why they buy it. Some even call them the poor mans Bentley.

I call them a Chrysler 300 and a sweet ass ride.

Okay. Your reasoning is fair. I admire you for the resolve you have in your opinion.
The fact that this car is dubbed the poor mans Bentley irritates me. I don't like most fake stuff. Fake bugs me.
To me, this car is really trying to be a poor mans version of a luxury ride, and it fails miserably if you ask me.
You like this car, and I respect that.

Now, I must admit that some fake stuff is okay, take for instance the thread here on this forum about fake body parts. Those don't bother me at all, not unless someone, when asked, lies and says that their fake stuff is real. A simple "none of your business" will suffice.

But it isn't fake. Those are just opinions of of other people. It is Chrysler's flagship car. They call it the 300. They don't call it a poor man's version of anything else.

I can understand you not liking fake things but this car isn't fake.

    Have you been in one?

No, I have not been behind the wheel in one of these cars. You have, and you say they are a sweet ride.
Okay, great. I'm glad they're a sweet ride, and I suppose they should be.

The only thing that you wrote that makes me "like" this car is the 44 miles per gallon. Everything else, the comfort, the power, the size, all of that does not negate the fact that this car seems like it's just a cheap copy of an expensive original. It bugs me. But that's me and how I am.

I'm not a snob about being frugal where money is concerned. Being frugal with money is Wise, and I
know that better than many people because I've had money, and I've also been homeless.
I felt very comfortable in my own skin in both situations.
But...would I feel totally comfortable carrying a fake Gucci bag? No. I would not.

I'm not some diva that only wants the Bentley or nothing, it's just that most fake stuff bugs me. That's me. That's just the way I am.

Would I ride in one of these cars? Sure, if I had to. But it would bug me the whole time.

Let me also say that the fact that someone would build a copy of something in a cheaper price range to specifically cater to people
who can't afford the supposed finer things in life, is highly offensive to me.

Flexin, I don't see how you can look at this car and not see for yourself what this company's intentions were/are. Come on.

I'm sorry, but it offends me. Maybe I could be wrong about this, and I stand corrected if that's the case, but from the first time I saw one of these cars, I felt like this car company was trying to cater to a "certain audience", and that offends me.

Oh, and have I mentioned that this car offends me??

Your forgetting a key point. This car isn't built, designed, styled or marketed to be any other car then the 300.

I hate knock off and I don't buy them. The 300 isn't one so it is fine.

Their intentions were to build a big American sedan. I don't know how you can think it is anything like the Phantom. The Rolls-Royce is a different beast altogether. That big grill is in your face. A hand crafted beauty. I haven't met one person that was buying a 300 that bought it because they thought it looked like a Rolls. I'm sure there is more then a few that buy them used that want to customize it to look like a Rolls a little bit. But that isn't what Chrysler did.

If you close one eye, squint with the other and turn off the lights they look exactly the same. Other then that you only get slight similarity. Look at the profile shots of both cars and I can see a huge difference. To me it should be easy for most to tell them apart with just silhouettes.

I disagree that they were trying to copy the Rolls when making the newest 300 (they started making them in 1955 so it isn't a new car).

You can get a Rolls grill for them which helps the look but it I wouldn't order one. I love the big Rolls grill but wouldn't try to make a 300 look more like one. It would never look enough like it for me.

You should rent one and hash out your differences. LOL.

Close one eye and squint with the other?? Ah, I see you've got jokes:roflmao::roflmao::meh::meh::meh:.
Rent one and hash out my differences? Even more jokes:joyful::neutral::neutral:.
I wish I could think of some sort of witty comeback in response to your humor, but alas, I can think of nothing, so...
    moving on.

What I don't get is how you can write something like "...You can get a Rolls grill for them..."
but yet still stick to your story that Chrysler wasn't trying to copy the body type of certain luxury vehicles. Can you get a Rolls grill for a Jeep?
    Um, Hello???????

You're just pulling my leg now Flexin', seriously. You're just being stubborn.

I mean, of course the cars aren't going to look exactly alike, after all, one car costs a hundred zillion dollars, the other car costs TWO ($2.00) dollars, so naturally the look isn't going to be exactly the same, but you said yourself people call it the poor man's Bentley.

The pictures that you included of a 2012 Chrysler compared to a Phantom, that Chrysler doesn't even look like a Chrysler 300, it's giving me more of a Hyundai Genesis feel.

Where's the pictures of the 2004 Chrysler 300's? What did they look like?
Show me some 2004's of this car:pompus::pompus:o_O. I need to see earlier versions.

    :D:roflmao: You like that?

None that I know of for the Jeep but you can get one for the Cadillac. Chrysler doesn't make the grill. An aftermarket company does. Do it has nothing to do with them. So I stand by what I said. :D

    That is the current 300.

    300.jpg rolls.jpg

When I see a Rolls I don't ever think 300. And I don't think of the Rolls when I look at the 300. Some others might but that is them.

Speaking of the Rolls. That is one sexy beast.

Do I like your jokes? Um...No.:rage:

I think that you actually DO see the similarities between the two cars, but you're just too stubborn to admit it, and hey, being stubborn is cool with me, especially when I know I'm right:whistling::whistling:.

That is a Beautiful picture of that Rolls:clapping::clapping:.
I agree with you, the Rolls is kind of sexy, but in my opinion, the Rolls has a kind of tackiness to it, in addition to the sexiness of it.

If I had to pick between a Rolls and a Bentley, I'd probably have to pick the Bentley, because to me
it is a little bit more understated than the Rolls.

The grill on the Rolls kind of irritates me. The grill is bordering on tacky,
and it will be tacky if they make it even a half a centimeter longer. Looks like a jail cell :nailbiting:.
They need to stop while they're ahead:stop::stop:.
I like old-money elegance, not new money "let's-build-a-grill-that-we-can-see-from-space" type of stuff.:earthasiaaus::globemeridians::eartheurafr::newmoon::newmoonface:

I wanted you to show me some pictures of the first model 300's, that way I can see if the company radically changed it's design over
the years. I think that they did change their design.

The shape is all off. With the newer ones, the shape of the roof and the c pillars would be close but that is it for me. It is a big stretch to call it a Phantom copy. If it was a copy they failed big time.

I like both the Rolls Royce and the Bentley. I'm honestly not sure what I would buy if I had the money. I would have to test them out and decide there.

I love the grill. I find it funny that you talk about old money elegance. Old money was spent on the big grill cars. Here is the 1927 Rolls Ryoce.

    27rolls.JPG

    1927 Bentley

    27Bentley.jpg

    1923 Duesenberg

    1923Duesenberg.JPG

The big grill was the thing. They had big engines, big radiators and a big grill to match.

Now back to the 300. You say they changed the design? It evolved like any other car. But you said the new one doesn't look like a 300. You said it was the old one they were talking about. The new style 300 started in 2004 (they started the 300 letter cars in 1955). The newest style of the Rolls Royce Phantom came out in 2003. So that means that Chrysler and Benz (DaimlerChyrsler) would have to see the Phantom, copy the design but not make it an exact copy and have that designed, tested, approved by the suit and released. All of this done in a year? So how can they have copied it?

The 2003 the Rolls Royce brand was owned by BMW. So unless Benz/Chrysler were working with BMW owned Rolls Royce then I can't see how they can copy something that hasn't been released yet.
