Man what do you do when it's raining very hard but you need to go somewhere? I had to drive through harsh weather yesterday. The rain was pouring very hard and I could hardly see anything in front. Plus, my side mirrors were so wet that I couldn't see anything in them and also my windows were all foggy.

What do you do when you can't see anything in your side mirrors? What is the ideal speed?

It just depends on the weather. If it's bad enough that I can't see that well, I'll put on my hazards and slow down until I feel safe. If it's at a point where I feel like I'm going to slide out or hit someone, I'll usually pull over until it lightens up some.

I'm used to traveling in such weathers, so it doesn't affect me anymore. I usually have my whippers at maximum, open and close the windows to clear the mirrors as good as I can and then I pay attention to who's behind me and who's in-front me, so I always know if someone over-takes, as I'll notice him missing behind me.

When this happens to me, I'll usually just drive really slow and look very carefully. Mostly in this kind of situations, other drivers are likely to have their headlights on for visibility so I usually pay attention to that. If they don't, it really depends on my eyesight for evaluation.

That is no fun when you have to drive in those serious downpours ! I have had to do that before, and sometimes, everyone just either pulls over onto the side and waits for the storm to move on a little, or you just have to slow down and keep driving, but really slowly, until you can see again.
One thing which really helps with keeping the windshield clear, and that is Rain-ex, or one of the similar products. It pretty much makes the rain just slide off as it hits the windshield. I think it would also be an advantage to also help keep the side mirrors and even the side windows clear.
When you put on the Rainex, it will last quite a while, so if you are coming into the spring rain/storm season, and put it on your windows, you should be protected for the next 2-3 months.

Here, we get a lot of rain so I sometimes have to take the chance and go through bad weather. If there is lightening and I really can't see anything then I'll stop by the way and wait for the weather to subside. I don't know of anything that can be done about the mirrors in bad weather. We just have to be careful out there and don't take too much risk.

I live in Florida, so I'm used to driving in the rain. We've just entered our rainy season, so it'll be raining quite often all the way through October. As long as I have my windshield wipers on high, I'm fine. I use also Rain-X on my windows.

Rain-X is a freakin' godsend for windshields. I don't know why the stuff gets such a bad review toward it. I've been using it on all my cars and rain doesn't stand a chance. It's amazing.

It really is. I haven't yet experienced any negatives from it. It does an excellent job at keeping my windshield dry.

I really like Aquapel for windows. I find it works as well as Rain X or better.

I have never had an issue with my side view mirrors getting so wet I couldn't see them. My trucks side view are actually push in there enclosure so they stay nice and dry. If you keep having this issue, use one of the products Flexin mentioned.
