It seems most people around me never read! I'm not complaining or anything like that, but I find that occurrence kinda odd! It seems people nowadays read less and less, specially here in America. But if you go to countries like Finland, then you are in for a big surprise when you find out one of the most popular hobbies there is reading! And drinking coffee, of course, lol.

I must admit I don't read as often as I should, I actually think I could read more, but I just don't seem to find the time to do it since I came back home.

I'd say I have only read 5 or 6 books in the last 4 years, what about you? Do you read at all? How often? What kind of reading material do you like?

I read all the time, it's just that I don't read books that's all. :p I check out the internet and read on daily news all the time. Other than that, I read the good old newspapers. I find it impossible to not read anything at all. Any kind of thing we see is a form of reading I think.

I would have to say the same as Daimashin. In the past I read a lot of books. I like biography and motivational books. Presently, I can't seem to find the time to settle down and read a good book. However, I do read everyday because I read the daily newspaper and research things on the internet.

Not nearly as much as I should. I'll occasionally pick up a scientific non-fiction book, but that's still a rare occurrence. I would like to get back into reading some time in the near future.

I've been thinking about getting back into reading too. The last time I completed a novel was many years ago. These days I rarely get to do anything because of work. Most of my free time is tied to my other obligations. Perhaps someday when I'm out of this situation, I'll be able to get back to reading novels.

I read all the time:bookworm::bookworm:. It it one of my favorite things to do in the world:singing:. I have been a voracious reader ever since I was a little girl.
A city (or school) library has always been one of my favorite places to be.
Books turn me on:thumbsup::roflmao::inlove::inlove:, I know that might be a strange thing to say, but I mean it! Lol:roflmao:

I read some of everything, with the exception of horror stories, and murder mysteries. The Bible is my favorite book. I also read autobiographies, biographies (Bill Gates, George Washington), romance novels, self-help books, how-to books, homemaking books (Martha Stewart!), cookbooks, books on how to make the perfect martini:rolleyes:, American History books.

And magazines, ugh! I love magazines. I read Architectural Digest, Good Housekeeping. Martha Stewart, Better Homes and Gardens, Cosmo, Veranda, House Beautiful, etc...

In my home (apartment) right now I have about 500 books. That's five hundred. Somebody who came to my house commented that she rarely sees a library like I have. I was thinking to myself, "A library??" I never thought of the books I have as a library, but I guess that's what one would call it:joyful:.

I have always wanted to have a house big enough where I have an actual "library" in it.

Hello there!!!! It's soooo nice to see you around here!!!! Where have you been??? :playful: You were missed around the forums:woot: I thought we'd never see you over here ever again! Welcome back ;)

I also love reading and I truly wish I had more time to read, but sadly I no longer have tome for anything!!! I also love magazines, specially magazines that specialize on food recipes :) I love collecting those :inlove: They always come with a wide variety of interesting recipes and ideas. There is a magazine that is targeted to diabetic people, I love to read it because it comes with ideas for different healthy recipes and snacks!

500 sounds like a lot books!!! You indeed have a library, lol. How could you find space for something like that? I ask because you mentioned you live in an apartment and 500 books surely take a loooot space!!!

Errr, I didn't mean it literally when I said ''some people never read'', lol. I actually mean most people (specially the younger ones) don't make an effort to read true literary works, like for example, books? I know because I was like that when I was younger, and is really hard to get into this if you grew up nowt doing that often. That habit can be hard to develop, but once you start reading real books you just can't stop! I love reading, but I have no time, but if I did... man I'd be reading so many books!

I lost my interest reading books, since surfing the net and playing video games are more fun.I used to read though when the internet isn't that popular. Now what I read mostly are webpages.

Aww, thank you for welcoming me back, that's so sweet:arghh::arghh::inlove::inlove:!! I was on a little vacation.
That little vacation turned into a long vacation away from my computer to type anything because I kind of got into a relationship, and that relationship became all consuming to me:facepalm: because I have an addictive personality:banghead:.

Have you ever met anybody like that, their whole everything seems to come to a screeching halt:stop: when they get into a relationship?? You don't hear from them at all, whereas when they were single, they called and texted you every single day:whistling::whistling:?
I tend to become that person. So ironic because in the past, I have had friends do that to me, and I to say that I was livid:mad::mad: with them about it is an understatement.
I have to stop being like that. I tend to let relationships damn near consume me:sorry: (I could write a book, maybe two), especially in the beginning, but I get over it, sometimes not quick enough though:sour:.

Soooo, about the reading... yes, I guess I do have a library:roflmao:. I suppose that my apartment is kind of spacious, maybe. I don't know. I've had apartments that seemed bigger, they looked bigger, but this apartment seems to actually have more space than they did.

It's a 2 bedroom, and I'd say that both of the bedrooms are kind of small, but it has an attached garage and a backyard.

I have a book shelf in my living room that has a couple hundred books on it. I have another bookshelf in my kitchen that has all sorts of cookbooks and cooking magazines (!!), and other kinds of books on it. In an out of the way corner I have more books stacked on top of each other (neatly:)). Then, there is a book shelf in my son's room. I have a file cabinet in my bedroom that has books on top of it (along with a small Hello Kitty collection:happy::happy::D:)). And I have books in my garage.

I'm like you, I love recipes:singing:. Here recently I have really fallen madly in love:inlove::inlove: with the art of cooking. I've always liked cooking, but for some reason, I have really become smitten with wanting to cook a lot. Cooking is :playful:thrilling me like never before. And I'm addicted to cooking shows.

Haha, very true. Whenever I think about reading a book, my mind always flies to video games and Youtube. :p Books seem like they weigh a ton when compared to picking up the gamepad. I do like however, to write my own stories from time to time.

You write your own stories? How long are they and is it purely fictional or was it inspired by your own life experiences?

Hehehe, I know what you mean! Reading books can be so time consuming! If I had time I'd probably do the same thing you do: surfing the net and playing video games! I also like to read all sorts of info on web sites  Specially things related to the supernatural :p:D

I mostly write fictional stories. My mind likes to think up a lot of ideas and plots whenever I'm free and I'll jot them down. When I get home, I'll either write short stories or incorporate the plots into the long story I'm doing.

Oh I see! LOL, so you had a really good reason to be away ;);););) No better reason than that in my book, lol. But I do know what you mean, I must admit I was guilty of doing the exact same thing to my friends when I was younger and that's why I almost lose a close friend of mine, who has been my friend for more than 8 years now. He made it quite clear to me and that's why I have stopped doing that, because when things go wrong I always go to him for some advice or some words of comfort :) So yes, I did it a lot too :roflmao::D:hilarious::whistling:

I just came back from the Netherlands a a week ago, I feel good, but I wish I had spent my birthday over there instead of spending it here  Maybe next year!

I think I have a mental image of what your apartment looks like! Well, you have books scattered all over your apartment  You must be so creative, because it seems you have found a way to find space for all those books. If it was me I'd just have hem scattered all over the room or in a pile :roflmao::hilarious:

So you love cooking?? Me too!!!! I have so many magazines, but I might actually sell them soon, because I need the cash :( I have a lot magazines with excellent cooking recipes :) I'm not a big fan of cooking books because the recipes there seem a bit stalled in a sense (unlike magazines that you get something new every week, just for the fraction of the price of a cooking cook). :inlove::inlove::inlove::inlove::inlove:

By the way, do you ever use YouTube to find new recipes? I must admit I do that a lot lately, it's funny because before I really didn't like to do that! Because watching the video was kinda tiresome (I've ADD), but now I prefer to get new recipes this way.

Well...if the relationship would have worked out, then yeah, maybe it would have been a good reason
to be away so long, however, the relationship did not work out:thumbsdown::thumbsdown:.
Who knows, it might work out in the future, but for now, No.
It pisses me off, because I always put a lot of time into building a relationship, but I really need to take things a lot slower than I do.

But, with my addictive personality, if I feel like something is right, then no one can tell me different and I go all gung-ho with it,
forsaking almost all other important elements of my life:thumbsdown:o_O:(:yuck:, and if things don't work out,
I've spent a lot of my time on something that really may not have deserved my time in the first place.

    Never
a good thing to do. Because then I get all mad thinking about all the other stuff that
I have neglected in order to put time into a dead-end relationship. Ugh:mad::thumbsdown::facepalm::sour::yuck::yuck::banghead:.
I seem to keep jumping into time-wasting relationships, like a dog chasing it's tail:roflmao:o_O. Going nowhere fast:roflmao:.
I sometimes tend to be a slow learner:dummy1::dummy1:.

So, you think that you have a mental image of what my apartment looks like? I'd post some pictures of my books if I knew how to do it.
I have to get my son:inlove::thumbsup: to help me.

I guess I'm kind of creative, but what it is--is that I love housekeeping and homemaking:inlove:. I love decorating and
trying to make a pretty house. I love it.
Fresh flowers, fresh linen, bleached bathrooms, sparkling kitchen, tidy books, the WORKS. Does everything always
look all beautiful, bleached, and sparkly...um NO :roflmao::nailbiting::roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:!! I would love it if it was, but that just is not a reality for me most days:nailbiting::nailbiting::hilarious::hilarious:.

Yes girl, I love to cook. It turns me on:singing:. And here lately I have been really getting into cooking, ironic though,
because I need to go on a strict diet. Or I need to go to the gym 5 days a week, one of the two, and
since I don't go to the gym, diet it is.

I like cookbooks and magazines. So... you might have to sell some of your magazines because you need the cash? Hey, do what you got to do.
I need cash myself, so I feel you babydoll.

And I love YouTube videos about cooking, but sometimes I don't like to watch them unless I have all the ingredients
on hand to make whatever they are making. I also like Rachel Ray, I love Martha Stewart, that is my girl:inlove:.
I like old Julia Child cooking shows, the black and white shows from way back.
Do you ever watch any of Chef Ramsey's shows? I like to watch repeats of
    his Kitchen Nightmares shows.

Ah which kinds of supernatural things do you love to read? As for me I believe that there are reptilian species out there, but they may be too far-fetched in your opinion. :wideeye:

There are lots of reptilian species out there. Are you talking about the shape-shifting reptilian humanoid conspiracy theory where reptile-people have infiltrated the government and supposedly rule the world?

Yes, good to know that you're familiar with them, Trellum seems not to believe in it, lol. So you agree with me that the royal family and probably Bush and other political figures are reptilian right? Not sure about Obama though but I think they are too? There are lots or reporters and media people caught on Youtube having those slit eyes.

No, I was simply pointing out that there's a difference between reptilian species and reptilian-humanoid species. I'm only familiar with them because those videos have been around for years. You do realize how easy it is to edit a video, right?
