Everyone is happy to keep as much money in their pocket as they can. Some don't bother trying to do it but are happen when it they save money.

One easy one is using a gas station that offers discounts. I have one that I think I can double up on. I can use my credit card which gives me cash back and the gas discount card.

Speaking of that. Using a credit card that gives points or cash back can help. Just check to see if it is going to cost you a yearly fee to have that card over the standard one. If it does you need to make sure you will use it enough to cover the fee. If you pay every bill and buy everything on the card then you will more then cover any fees. Just make sure to keep paying off the card or you will lose that savings by paying more in interest.

Another is to take advantage of sales. My wife bought about 5 bottles of my favorite body wash when it was on sale. It doesn't go bad so its a great way to save money. I think we saved around $3 a bottle and we go through a lot of it so its not like it was going to take 6 months to realize the savings.

What things do you do to save money.

I use coupons when I can. I don't go digging for them, or go out of my way, but I use coupons.
I also save all my dollar bills. I know that's not really "saving" money, but it helps. We have a giant bin that we put our change and $1 bills in. It's typically used for emergency money, or birthday/Christmas money.

I buy in bulk when I can so long as what I am buying doesn't go bad easily. I once bought about 100 2-liter bottles of soda and learned the hard way that soda has a shelf life of about six months. So, just learn to pay attention to the expiration dates if you're going to buy in bulk.

One thing that really saves me money is buying off-brand cereal. To me, off-brand shedded wheat and coco-pebbles tastes just like the name brand stuff but at half the cost. I'm a bit of a snot because I just re-fill the old name-brand boxes with their off-brand counterparts so that my kids won't notice.

    Welcome to Gearhead Central Tommymac!

Buying in bulk is great for some items I bought about 16-20 razors which saved me between $15-30 a few months ago. I forget now. I will find out soon because I have to buy some again.

Was it from DorcoUSA? I love ordering razors and blades from them. They're so much cheaper than buying name brand razors from the store. I bought a year's supply for about $30.

I have a local newspaper that always has a weekend edition with free and low cost things to do and I live in FL so going to the beach is always an option when I only have a few bucks. I sign up for local businesses' e-mail clubs as well so I always get free tickets to comedy shows and such.

I have always wanted to do extreme couponing, but I honestly don't have the time or the patience. I would probably save soooo much money if I just made myself do it. I always intend to use a coupon here or there, but I am so forgetful, and I don't end up using it. Or, if I remember to use it, it's when the coupon has already expired. Hahaha... I knew an older couple that used to use their points on their credit cards and get free trips out of it. They would get free flyer miles for using their credit card, and then they would use it to go out of the country. They probably just used their credit cards while there again to get even more points. :p

I buy stuff in bulk at Sam's Club to save money. :hilarious: My hubby goes through Axe like mad. He takes a lot of showers. He smokes and I don't. So, he will go take a shower whenever I complain about the smell.

Definetely use coupons when ever you have the occasion to and cut some of your unnecessary costs like buying something that you don't need or perhaps you don't need it at the moment.

Part of my problem is that I don't save money unless I absolutely have to, and that's when pretty much everything that is not essential to survival gets cut out. It's stressful during the lean times to live like that - I admit. But if you think about it, when times are okay financially, you really get to do the things you enjoy doing. I wouldn't necessarily say that I recommend doing things the way I do, but I think the trade-off is worth it.

One of the things I've been doing to save money on clothing lately is, if I really like something, I'll ask to talk to the manager and ask if there's anything else he/she can do to motivate me to buy the item. I'd say that about 60% of the time, the manager will give me an extra 10% off.

Buying in bulk is the most common way to save money, I do that too. :) What else.. Use Skype instead of calling on the cellphone or landline, and text instead of call. And when getting a cellphone plan, always avail of the plans that are bundled with a free phone. My brother subscribes to a certain plan, and he gets a free mid-range cellphone every 2 years since 2006. If you want the more expensive phones, you just add a little cash. :)

To save money I buy everything that is non perishable in bulk. Just like your body wash example. I buy that kind of stuff and warehouse stores and get really good deals on it. I also do not have a credit card anymore. I was finding that I would spend money on the card and not include it in my budget. So to fix that I paid off my credit card and now just have it for emergencies.

Well I like using point cards and save up on points and treat myself and family with them. I know this is not saving money but I also do small surveys to get a little extra pocket money..it really ads up!

Walking instead of driving a car saves loads of money, and contributes to keep yourself healthy. This is my one and sole advice.

Naturally, this may not be easy if you need to move around long distances and time is a constraint, but when it is not, I don't any trouble in spend 8 hours to go from one extreme of my city to the other by walking, particularly when I had nothing better to do within those 8 hours.

Of course, my regular walking time around is only between a half-hour or one hour at most, but I don't feel hesitate to work as much as I can and catch a taxi or get into the public transportation if wheels are needed or time limits my walking time.

I would suggest for you to get a book called "The Money Make Over." It will tell you all that you need to know about saving money and getting out of debt.

There are tons of ways to save money...I think that it depends on what you are buying and where you are...online is always a good place to start if you are looking to buy goods while local services will offer discounts if you just ask. Be careful when relying on coupons...I usually wind up spending more because I dont usually buy nae brand...which is what you have to do to take advantage of them.

My advice is always shop around. Try to find the lowest price. Also, make sure the reputation of the seller is good. You don't want to get shafted.

I know this is a tad off the "buying in bulk" topic, but does anyone use CVS rewards cards?
