Congrats for achieving those milestones! Anyway I agree that you can write about articles regarding cars and do it yourself tips on how to repair or take care of them on hubpages, associated content, bukisa, etc., and at the end of the article, you can link gearhead central on it. So that ensures your visitors are genuinely interested in cars.

The Yahoo answers way is good but it does take a lot of time to get any decent traffic from the site. You mentioned somewhere that links on other 'car-sites' would get a member banned but the fact is some forums strictly don't allow you to post a link or include a link under your signature unless you make about 50 posts. Considering the fact that you may not get many visitors off the forums, IMO that would be more of a waste of time.

However still on posting uh. . .elsewhere. . .

What about blogs and articles posted on Automotive sites? Commenting on a blog or web-site article could get you that back-link without you getting worried about getting banned but once in a while readers on the blog/site will click through and land here. Depending on how they like the place, they could end up becoming members or at least repeat visitors which I believe is what every web-owner is after.

Just my two cents. . .

I don't know if you can probably do ad exchanging. Where members can view each others ads.

Making 50 posts on a forum isn't a big issue. I think forums are good because your advertising to people that currently use forums. But it still would take time .

Yahoo Answers has giving me some traffic. Not a lot but some and that is better then nothing.

I have seen in another forums an option in our profile to invite friends, don't know if that would help or how it could be done though.

We do have an invite feature but I need to find out if it works with the updated site before turning it back on.

I think that is one of the best ways. That's if people do it. I did have a referral (invite) contest a couple of months ago but no one entered. I might run another one soon.

Contests with prizes are always great ways to get new members, but we never know if someone signs in just for the prize. The invite feature seems to be very practical, a click and it is done.

If the prize is good enough, some could sign up just for that and leave. That is just how it goes. If some stay then its more then worth it. If it gets the Gearhead Central name out there then it was a still decent as well.

Gearhead is one of my favorite forum. I think you have already mentioned the way to strengthen the positioning of this forum and bring more traffic to it. I never shared them on social networking site like facebook and twitter but as that you suggested, I will definitely do it from now onward and ofcourse bring all those people here with whom I am connected with.

I will contribute as much as I can.

Thanks. Yeah sharing posts and pictures you like with different social networking sites can help a lot. It is easy with the share buttons in the lower left corner of every page.

Just a suggestion, but how about some giveaways or something along those lines to stir a commotion and got people coming to the site and to stay glued to it.

Maybe you should think of making an app for Gearhead Central..just like the Edmodo app..which is very much like an online classroom for students and teachers as well as parents to interact online and make study easier..And if Gearhead Central comes up with something like this..It can be a great hit..and users can increase up like anything..and we can get direct notifications also..as nowadays..all of us use a smartphone..
What others have to say about this..

The issue with developing an app is the costs. You can have it set to sent you an email and a thread you are watching receives a response. That is how I receive all my updates.

This forum is also connected to Tapatalk. So that can be used as well. One issue with that is not all features on the forum can be used while in the app.
