Hey guys! Could you please tell us more about the car you first drove? what year was it? was it automatic or manual? I'll start off by telling you about my first experience driving a car.
The first car I ever drove was a chevy monza (1998), it was a manual one and it belonged to my mom :D I learn to drive in it, and I had permission to drive it ever once in a while.

    What about you guys?

I first drove a Kia Pride, it was a manual one, and it was my friend's family car, but they let her use it because they had 3 cars, and it was the cheapest among their 3 cars. My friend was teaching me how to drive that time.

That's a nice car to start with :) I also learnt to drive in a manual one. I'd never change it for an automatic! Have you tried to drive an automatic car? Is it me or it feels kinda odd at first? Most of my friends like to drive automatic and think I'm crazy for chosing to drive a manual car instead of an automatic one.

I haven't tried driving an automatic car yet, but I was told that it's way easier if you use an automatic car. Well maybe when I can finally afford to drive a car I'll buy an automatic one.

Well, automatic cars have thier pros and their contras, I personally don't trust them at all. Specially if something is wrong with the battery... my mom had a really bad experience with an automatic car. I think manual ones are way more trustworthy :)

I actually didn't drive a whole lot until after I was married and had kids. I learned to drive in my dads big old line truck, and then I took drivers training in school.
We only had one family car, an old 53 Buick Special, and my mom wasn't about to let anyone else drive it.
After I got married, my husband drove most of the time, but he did spend a lot of time teaching me how to drive better, and I learned a whole lot from that man. We had a car and a family truck, so when the car was gone with my husband to work, I had to drive the truck if I needed to go anywhere, so that was what I often drove. Some days, I took him to work, so I could use the car for the day.
So there really was not a car that was just mine to drive for many years.

I drove the family car as well, the car belonged to my mom and it was the only car we had at home, because my dad no longer drives (he had a really bad accident - he almost dies). I learnt to drive in that car, she was my instructor, but it wasn't easy at all! Because she's a really nervious person! So being taught to drive by her really affected my nerves :D

The first car I drove was this scary Austin Montego (not that one, but one exactly alike). As you can imagine it's a terrible first car, it's huge and heavy so I had a hard time and made quite a few hits with it.

Its obscure to me but I think it was Maruti Suzuki's Alto. Ofcourse that was very basic car and basic facilities and therefor not automatic but manual.

Now my brother own a car with automatic transmission. That's the lovely car to drive, it is in petrol variant and is of ford company.

My mom is driving a smaller version :p It's a GEO metro, looks kinda similar to this one, but way smaller. I don't like very big cars, they seem so hard to park, so no wonder you hit quite a lot with this car :D

I have some scary stories with it. It had the trailer thing behind and one time I was parking and smashing the car behind with it and not even noticing it... :sorry:

LOOOOL :hilarious: I'm sorry, I found the last bit to be really funny! I can't believe you didn't even feel that, but I don't doubt that can happen when driving a car like that :D Are you sure you weren't on something that day? :D

I grew up on a farm deep in the country as country-side farms go, you just have to own a pick-up truck. It was an old but reliable vehicle and the first time I had to drive it was when my old man who was dead drunk was trying to slip into the driver's seat and by-standers demanded that I stand up and be a man [I was a boy then and thought being a man was something great] and got behind the wheel. Started the vehicle, did the necessary [didn't know I'd shifted into reverse gear] and stomped on the accelerator. . .

    It's a memorable moment.

It was a huge car I didn't had a clue what I was doing, I often bumped into things, not the ideal car for a starter... And nope, clean as a whistle! :dummy:

Denis, what happened when you accelerator with reverse gear on?

The first car I drove was a 2000 Toyota Sienna. It was my mother's minivan and considered much safer for me to learn how to drive on than my father's manual civic SI. The first few times I drove it, I remember being so nervous I couldn't even remember how to get home! I'd always be completely exhausted after a short drive because of all the concentration it took to drive and be safe. I managed somehow to not destroy that van, but when the time came for my brother to learn... Well shortly after getting his full license, he got into an accident where the van rolled three times, finally resting on a fence. The van was totalled but my brother got out with only a few scratches. I miss that minivan haha :]

I don't know whether to laugh or cry. Lol. That bit about you forgetting to get home is funny, but I'm glad your brother made it out alive and in good conditions though.

The first car I actually drove was a Peugeot 308 if I remember right, the number might not be the exact one but something like that. It was the car that I learned driving on at the driving school and I must say it is a pretty good car, great handling and speed and comfortable as well.

Yeah, it was really nerve-racking at first! For sure my brother was lucky, the car landed on all four wheels (what was left of them) and then some lady jumped out of an 18-wheeler and called 911. When she asked my brother if he was okay, his first words to her were "Damn, my mom's going to kill me for wrecking the car!". He actually hasn't driven since but he lives in a big city with a great subway system.
