Have YOU had the pleasure of wrecking your vehicle? If you are not too embarrassed... Share your story. What was your first wreck like?

My first wreck happened my first semester at my university. Too many students, not even parking. So what did the students do? Well, naturally they created their own parking. They would add a whole extra row to the parking lot when there was not done. Instead of a lane for cars going one way and cars going the other way. There was only one lane for two lanes of traffic. I ended up trying to inch around a corner to try and get out of the parking lot and another student coming the other direction came flying around the corner. I opted for swerving and hitting the parked car instead of smashing the car head on. Needless to say... The guy that swung around the corner real fast did not stick around to see if I was OK or anything. He felt stupid for driving so fast in a parking lot (I am assuming) and took off. The wreck is not even on my record because my car did not really take in any damage. The other guy that was parked where I was supposed to be driving ended up being completely at fault. After all, what was I supposed to do? Fly over him? :p

My first wreck occurred during my first week of owning my first car, I was too excited and careful with my car that I actually forgot to put my car in neutral and i just stepped on the pedal by mistake, causing a large break in the garage room wall. I've spent about $2,000 in repairs on the wall and $1,200 for the front bumper and paint restoration. I've learned my mistake of being too careless in the most important part of owning a car. Well I'm kinda embarrassed for sharing this but it's fun to laugh at now, after 2 years.

I was driving home from a friend's house and I was going to make a left turn...the car was coming in way faster than the speed limit. I was only licensed for a few months and I thought I could make it but they hit me head on. Of course since I was turning it was my fault even though the bitch was speeding and not paying attention to the road. I guess it helped that the first cop on scene gave her a huge and said, "hey, how are your mom and dad doing?"

Wow... That's crazy! I have been in a few accidents-NONE of them were my fault. The first one was in my friend's car. This old man ran a red light and hit us. The second time, I was hit from behind because someone's brakes went out, they hit the car behind me, and then that car crashed into me. There was a crack all across my bumper, but I didn't have any insurance(before it was illegal not to have it), and the girl said she had weed on her, so she really didn't want to call the cops. If I did have insurance, I would have called the police, but I didn't, so there was no point in even calling them. No one was hurt, and the person that caused the whole thing just took off anyway. The third time, I was leaving a grocery store parking lot, I was talking on my cell phone (also before it was illegal LOL). I was actually stopped at the stop sign before leaving the lot because I saw some cars coming. There was a Ford F150 in the left turn lane almost directly in front of me, and there were two cars coming from the left. I was waiting for them to drive past when the F150 decided to go ahead and make the left turn into the parking lot. At the same time, one of the cars decided to fly by the car that was in front of them, and they smashed the F150, causing it to slide onto MY car. All I remember is saying "Ohhhhhh sh*****t!" when I saw that happen, telling my sister to hold on, dropping my phone into my lap, looking in my rearview mirror to see if there was anyone behind me so that I could back up before it hit me, but by the time I put the car in reverse, and I turned back around, the F150 was already ON TOP of my hood! I was hysterical b/c I had my kids in the car with me, and I sooooo thought we were going do die! I think it helped that I had my car in reverse, because if not, it may have rolled over us, and we may have died. =( Again, no one was hurt, but daaaaang... That was so scary! Oddly enough, all of those accidents (I actually avoided some other accidents, too) were in the same car-except for my friend's car. That car was bad luck, man! The last time I got into a car accident, I was pregnant with my last child, and I was on my way to the college to sell my textbooks back (at the very beginning of the new semester), and this chick in front of me turned her right blinker on, started to turn onto a sidestreet, and then came back out in front of me, causing me to slam on my breaks. That was annoying enough, but she did the SAME thing on the next little side street! Only this time, she was trying to make a U-Turn WITHOUT LOOKING! OMG... By the time I realized that she was coming back around yet again, I laid it on the horn, and tried to stop, but there were cars behind me, and they would have hit me either way. It didn't stop her teeny bopper self, and she slammed into me. I wasn't able to swerve, either, because there were cars coming the opposite way-it was only a 2 lane street. I was sooooooo mad b/c I LOVE my car! I hadn't had any accidents with it, and she crashed it. =( Then, she wanted to leave. I told her she COULDN'T leave because it was illegal to do so. I called the cops, and she ended up having to have her daddy pay for $2400 worth of damage to my car. That's why I drive so defensively. You can't trust that people know what they're doing out there. LOL

There are lots of idiots out there, OP. All of the students who opted to create their own parking spots should have their permits revoked. They put you and others at risk of a crash.

My first wreck was when I was a teenager. However it was not my fault. I got rearended at a stop light. I used to have a bright orange 1972 IH Scout. It was a beast to say the least. The color was actually called safety orange. I was stopped at the light and the person said that they didn't see me. It was a very nice mid 20s woman and she new it was her fault. It didn't do any damage to my scout because of the big bumper I had but her car had to be towed away. And luckily there were no injuries.

I've had plenty of fender benders, but nothing so bad that required me to total the car. When I was a young lad, my mother was driving me in her Gremlin and got t-boned by another car. The Gremlin did not survive.

My first wreck was not my fault, I swear! :D

I flipped my mothers family van the day I passed the driving test at 16, so much for Georgia's testing. HaHa Seriously it was out of my hands and I wasn't driving wreckless at all. Just a bad stroke of luck I guess.

The second wasn't really a wreck. A dump truck backed on top of my 87 Nissan Maxima, which was my first vehicle. 3 or so months later the city finally had to cough up the money to repair my car. It was definitely the most frightening of the two altercations. I actually drove out from underneath this guy in reverse as he just kept on coming right on top of the hood and heading for the windshield. I will never forget that, and to this day I will never allow myself to get behind a large truck.

I only hit a car once. I was backing up with my UPS truck when this guy raced around the corner. I completely wrecked his front.

I have never hit our family car on something yet, but my brother had it bump our gate as he was parking it, so it got dented a bit. :D

Had my Ranger truck for ten years now and had two minor mishaps in the last four years, both took place in December and neither were road condition related.
Not wrecks just mishaps. Not me at fault in both cases and driver error was involved in both cases.

One day just over 10 years ago during high school, I was driving a friend home in my first truck. Didn't realize the road was as slick as it was until I tapped the brakes to slow down for some curves. At that point, the brakes locked up and put me into a tree at 50mph. The front end of the truck wrapped around the tree as all the wood that I had under the toneau cover slid forward and slammed into the back of the cab. All but 1 of the rear window panes shattered. About the only thing that could have been reused was the tailgate and rims. The only cut I got was from grabbing a thorn bush when walking around the truck to open my buddy's door (which had a small tree holding it shut). He had a couple small cuts from flying glass.
When my dad saw the truck a couple days later, his knees went weak, because he thought I was exaggerating when I told him I totaled it. The insurance adjuster told Dad that he'd seen vehicles hit by trains with everyone inside killed that looked better than the truck. He also said some words I try to keep in mind since that day: God's not done with those boys.

My first and only wreck was horrible. I was crossing a one way and a semi switched lanes and hit me. It hit right behind my door, so I wasn't seriously injured, but it destroyed a car I had just dumped thousands of dollars into. The insurance totaled it and that upset me more than anything. That was my baby! I still have flashbacks every time I see a blue semi-truck, too, even though it was 10 years ago.

I was leaving high school and it was snowing. There was a lot of black ice on the road and I was an inexperienced driver. I was coming up on red light and there were a few cars in front of me. Once I hit my brakes, my car slid right into the back of a truck. I was so pissed but I learned my lesson on how to drive in the snow.

I did not have many accidents over the years and I have drivers license for only 8 years. Nothing serious, just some minor scratches.. Except that one time, 3 days after I got my license..
We were going to do some fishing, and while driving on some dirt road we spotted a rabbit on the road.. Young and hot headed I hit the gas and in few seconds I was flying across that dirt road after that rabbit.. Well long story short rabbit went straight aaaand the road went right... :roflmao: I hit the brakes just for a second and turned that steering wheel right in about 0.0000002 sec, I hit the gas in hope it will pull me out, because my car was already tilted and going sideways... It did, and we broke in a cemetery..
Everybody was dead when we got there, sooo there wasn't any reason to call authorities...
No injuries, except some old wooden fence that was turned to firewood because we needed some coffee to get back on track and back to fishing :roflmao:
I was driving an old WV passat caravan 2 made in 1987 just like me :roflmao:

Luckily and thankfully, I haven't had one yet. Got plenty of tickets though. Mostly for tail lights. And a few speeding. Of which the highest I was going was 6 miles over the limit. But it was in a residential area so, meh.

My first wreck was ten years ago and those were the days when I was still getting used to driving. I did not have any problems with driving itself and in fact, I drove safe and my passengers always felt safe and comfortable with my kind of driving. What I had problems with, however, was the parking. My partner and a bunch of friends kept on telling me that the most convenient kind of parking is the "backing", or parking backwards. Convenient because, when you have to leave already, you will just have to be off the parking lot and that's it! And if there is an emergency and you have to rush and leave, you will be free from the trouble of getting of the parking lot. But it really was not my style of parking. I found it easier to park engine facing the wall rather than the back part facing the wall. So, one time, when I had to do the grocery and I was alone, I felt brave to park it backwards. I thought, I eventually had to learn it and I had to start somewhere. I felt that was the "start". But I had a hard time checking my rear both left and right. It was a combination of looking at the rear mirror and actually turning my head to check the clearance. Just when I thought I was doing it right, I bumped to the car parked on my left and yes, I wrecked both my car and his. It was the first wreck, and it was not the last. Three times I had to experience it, all the same reason: my attempt to park backwards. The first had the worst wreck, and the next two did not have much damage, but still there were dents that meant a visit to the repair shop. It was a hassle not having a car to use while it was in the repair shop, so to avoid that, I stopped trying. Up to now, I am not comfortable with parking backwards.
