My car is in current need of new tires, but I need to get the ball-joints fixed first. The tires are about 3 years old now, but when I was married we did a lot of driving. How often do you have to buy new tires?

Not very often. We've had our car for nearly 2 years and the tires arn't worn down at all.

We get three to four seasons out of a set. We run a set spring, summer and fall. Then we switch to winters. We normally get three winters out of our winter tires. Normally can get four but I want great traction for the winter.

One year I had to buy 12 tires in less then two months. It was about 5 weeks or so.

I guess we are kind of lucky then. because we only run 1 set of tires in Michigan for all the seasons. I know back in the day a lot of people use to have winter tires for the back of the car. But these newer front wheel drive cars get through the snow pretty easy.

P.S. I couldn't imagine buying 12 tires in two months.

I buy new tires at least every other year. This is usually after several patching and switching in order to get my full money's worth.

I don't buy tires for my vehicles that often. The last time I purchased new tires was about 5 years ago and they still have a lot of tread on them, then again I bought them brand new. It all depends on how you drive and what type of terrain you drive on.

I call all season tires, three seasons. There are lots of people that will run all seasons all year round. They are the ones holding up the traffic in the snow storms. The added traction and safety makes it worth the extra cost. When we are hauling the kids around it isn't worth it to save a couple hundred a year. Plus one winter I did some snow removal. I wouldn't have made it to work in some of those storms. The snow was up to my bumper in my Mazda Tribute.

I didn't have kids then and had a good job. It sucked but I was glad I had the means to do it.

I have all terrain tires on the Jeep that are winter rated. So I will see how that goes. Unless these do really well I can see me wanting full on winter tires. The Blizzaks on my wife's car were unreal last winter.

I have a rather short commute so I only have to get new tires about once every year and a half. This allows me to pass inspection and they hold up well in almost any weather. I love that the roads around whee I live are smooth and flat so not much wear is ever presented as a problem for my car.:D Usually I buy Firestone.
