I recently saw this and think it's crazy! I suppose the reason for this is for undercover use, so they can park at one side and appear as a normal car, or to the other side and appear as a regular police car, very strange and intriguing! What are your thoughts on this?

No undercover work, unfortunately. That's the "Arfur Car" that was used by the Lincolnshire police a couple of years ago. It was painted as such simply to attract attention and get people talking about it and the police; it's really more of a display car than anything. It does stand out, so it's certainly done its job well enough.

Thanks for the informative answer Sabrehawk. I would have no clue why the police car would have been painted like that.

They've been around for a couple of years, but I seem to be seeing a surge of them on the streets recently. In the past 3 years I only saw 2, but in the last 6 months I've probably seen close to 10.

Interesting, thanks for clearing that up. I've personally never seen a police car like this before in my life.

Me too. I haven't seen a police car that looks like this one. So this isn't really for undercover or anything? Just for display? I think they were successful on their plans since a lot of poeple would really be attracted because the looks isn't for a normal police car to have.

If that car was for undercover purposes then it is a lousy way to get disguised, lol. The moment that I saw it's design, I knew that they just wanted to attract attention towards that car. And as expected, they succeeded. Seems like the police had too much time on their hands for them to come up with such an idea, lol.

Oh, For police, its really a strange way to catch attention of others. Anyway, everyone will notice this car for sure.

Weird! I'm glad you brought this up and posted about it- I never would have known otherwise. It looks silly when it's being driven but I'm sure it's effective when parked at the right angle.

You will have to agree that The "silliness" is what has made it to be that popular, otherwise you wouldn't have noticed it, I would say it really was a good campaign.

It looks like an attention getter. If I didn't see the plate and the half police sign I would have thought it wasn't a police car. Good that it served it's purpose , otherwise it could have been money wasted.

Never seen anything like it here, thanks for sharing the image. Learned something new from this thread. My impression of this is that it looks goofy and not very fitting for a police car. :p

Interesting, I cant say I have ever seen one like it but it'a certainly an interesting tactic to use and without a doubt attract the right kind of attention.

WTF? I suppose this is just something for fun. I'm not sure if it is legal, though.

Wow, that is truly bizarre. As to the question, nope, never saw anything like that in these parts. I don't see the Sheriff's office adopting the style any time soon either. After all, they elected in this state. ;)

Someone forgot to finish their painting work...even the spelling POL....??...its too obvious for a disguise but still raises eyebrows all the same ;).

Interesting, in my country 'undercover' police cars are Subaru Impreza WRX STI, so chances getting away from them are very slim. One moment you are admiring that Impreza and the next moment you're pulled over. :D

I have never seen anything like that. But here in the states we have unmarked cars where there are no visible lights and the decals blend in the paint and are very hard to see. The police love to use them to catch people speeding.
