Longest Road Trip

What is the longest roadtrip you have ever taken?

 

The longest roadtrip I have ever taken was with my family back in '06. We took our Honda Odyssey all the way up to Vancouver from Central California, stayed there for a few days, then went down to Seattle and also stayed there for a few days. It was about a 15-16 hour drive, going through Oregon and Washington. It was very interesting to see all of the different license plates along the way!

 

The longest roadtrip i have ever taken was actuallt last year. From Washington D.C. up to New York. It was with my family. There were some attractions in New York that we wnated to check out and we decided it would be fun to just take a drive up there instead of flying or taking a train.

 

I haven't taken it yet, but my friends and I, after our senior year, want to take a road trip across the U.S. We live in Louisiana, and we would like to go up the west coast, to Washington, and then come back. It's going to take a lot of saving and time, but I hope we can do it.

 

The longest trip I ever took was from Southern California taking the "southern route" through Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, heading up to Michigan in a Chevy pickup. Traded cars and drove a 62 T bird through Canada (Ontario) over to New york, through Pennsylvania and followed the northern route (continuing on through Iowa, Nebraska and started heading south through Nevada and back home. That was a TRIP!

 

Back in 2012 around mid of the year we planed a trip which was 800km from both the side, I was the lead driver and another one was my elder brother. It was a great fun for me to ride around for such a long distance.

Before that I have counted 300 km several times.

 

Going from Pennsylvania to Montreal was a pretty long trip. It must have been 10-12 hours, but this was a couple years back and it seemed like forever. It was worth it though, I have some family in Montreal that I hadn't seen in a long time.

 

I left Astoria, Oregon one fall and headed north to Seattle. I was intent on staying off of the Interstate Highway System. From Seattle, I hit US Highway 2 and headed east. Many miles later, at Sault Ste. Marie, I headed into Canada. Farther east around and ferrying over Lake Huron to Toronto and Niagara Falls with no small amount of liquor that I was old enough to buy in Canada but not to posses in the US I headed toward Niagara Falls. From Niagara, I dropped down through New York and Pennsylvania and found my way ultimately to Delaware. I dropped the Ford Ranger I had been traveling in and hopped a bus north to just outside of Portland, Maine. I wasn't keeping track of the mileage and was neither in a hurry nor inclined to see all the tourist attractions along the way. However, driving ALL THE WAY across the US gives you a sense of the place that looking at map never can and it certainly beats the airlines.

 

Sort of. I was moving the pickup for my then girlfriend (now wife) who was finishing up college in Dover. I was working summers in Maine at the time and had a month with no commitments. A year later, I drove the same pickup, with Wife onboard, back to the west coast in the middle of December. It was a much more arduous trip.

 

Last summer (2012) I drove from NY to Florida, with my best friend and my 4 kids. (my husband flew and met us. He's the smart one!) I had a minivan, but with 4 kids it's cramped. Add to that my best friend's mother, who we drove to Virginia and dropped off on the way. So we were pretty squished! And that drive, well, it took 2 days and was not the most exciting view all the time LOL So it was tough! But I would do it again in a heartbeat.

 

Wow that is pretty awesome that you got to see all those places. I bet it was really exciting.

 

Back in 2006, my friends an I bought a camper trailer and decided to go from Ontario to Vancouver and back. Given that I had never went to Chicago, we decided to go through the US on the way there. The first day we drove all the way to Chicago, I was amazed by how much it reminded me of the Batman movies! To get to Vancouver we continued and stopped at Mount Rushmore, Yellowstone National park, Seattle and probably a few more. I really loved Seattle, its music museum was lots of fun, especially the exhibit where we could try out all sorts of instruments!

 

Well, I have my license for a month and 5 days only, still I've already done a 500km trip 3 days after I've had my licenses and last weekend had to drive for 16 hours straight(with few minutes pauses), completing 1300km.

Soon enough I'll be traveling from France to Portugal and from Portugal back to France.

 

My longest road trip was 14 hours. I don't think I could do one longer than that, maybe if it was an emergency.

 

You said it. I so believe that a family (or a group of friends) who travel by car can always find an adventure and really appreciate the beauty and diversity of the US. A plane takes you from place to place. A car takes you on a real trip!

 

I haven't taken a long road trip yet, but I would like to travel for the very north of Canada to the very south of Argentina.

Just a dream that it may no happen ever, but would be a truly passionate roadway.

 

The longest road trip I ever took was about 36 continuous hours. But I wasn’t taking it for pleasure it was a $100000 bet from our company. Our cars were set on tracking devices and we had to go from a certain city to another and who he who had to arrive first could be the winner. I tried my luck and fortunately I took the money. This was not because the other guys couldn’t but because I was working on a firm that had half of the workers being women while the other half was guys. The youngest guy was only me with 23 years while the one who followed me was about 54 years. So there was no way I couldn’t win of course.

 

The longest road trip that I've taken was from Wisconsin to California, when I was a kid. We did it as a family trip, seeing most of the sight-seeing things that were on our way, and then stopped at Disneyland when we got to California. We took another route on the way back and made different stops, and we ended up being out for two weeks seeing the country. Or at least what parts of the country were in that direction.

 

I can't perfectly figure the longest i drove in the past but I remember their his a time when I drove for more than 10 hours no-stop. This was during my teenage when we used to bet on our driving. I love it that I made it though it was not really a good experience.
