I thought it would be interesting to ask what vehicle your parents owned? I know my dad had cars before I was born, but I grew up when he owned a Volvo 760 I believe it was, in blue. He painted a silver stripe down the bonnet though, lol. Good memories of that.

Since I was born my parents have pretty much owned only Toyotas. My mom has owned a 1992 Toyota Carolla, a 1999 Camry, and a 2008 Toyota Carolla. My dad owned a ~1990 Dodge Ram pickup truck and then now owns a 2003 Toyota Tundra. These are pretty standard cars but are very reliable. The 1999 Camry is still running and has survived two teenagers learning to drive on it.

With the exception of one, they've all been Fords, progressing from a 1984 Tempo, to an '88 Bronco II (which I drove for over a decade), a '93 Taurus, and a '98 Explorer.

The lone exception was the 1979 Malibu my dad drove throughout most of the 80's. He replaced the stock engine with a 307 he got from a 1970 Camaro; I remember being just a few years old and helping him out with that one. That thing could really go, and I was always disappointed he didn't keep it around for me to drive. That was the plan, but plans change.

I am not sure. The first automobile I can remember them having was a Datsun truck. I'm sure they had other vehicles but I doubt they remember. I do remember them saying they lived in a school bus, I think it was converted so it wasn't operational at the time.

Apparently my parents have owned some pretty nice cars before I was born. My mom has told me stories about how she owned a first-gen Camaro as her second car, while my dad had his Nissan 240SX until I was about 7. When I was younger, they had his car, and some Oldsmobile wagon. Eventually, the wagon got traded in for a new Chevy Suburban (new being from the 2003 model year), and my dad needed to get a new car due to problems with his. He ended up with a '98 F-150. He still drives it like he owns that 240SX, though.

    Welcome to Gearhead Central pezdeath!

My father (I would only know some of his ones in the last 10 years or so)

    • Oldsmobile Cutlass (Mid 80's)
    • Buick LeSabre (late 90's I believe)
    • GMC pick up 4X4 (Mid 90's)

    Step father

    • Oldsmobile Cutlass (87' I think)
    • Toyota pick up 4X4, Black 5 speed (Maybe 87'-89')
    • Ford F150 4X4 (maybe a 79')
    • Pontiac 6000 SE (mid 90's I drove this car a lot when I was 16 or so. I loved it)
    • Dodge Ram pick up. 4 speed manual. (late 80's or early 90's) I learned to drive standard in that truck.
    • Oldmobile station wagon (87' I think. That was a work car for us. It hauled a lot of tools and took us on a little trip)
    • 94 Ford F150 4X4
    • 96 Ford F150 4X4
    • 98 Ford F150 4X4

I remember growing up my dad drove a 1987 Mustang GT Cobra. It was the first car that I fell in love with, and subsequently led me down the mustang road. As we grew up my dad ditched the Cobra in favor of a motorcycle, opting to use my moms minivan as the family's means of transportation.

My father owned a Cadillac DeVille, and I remember mis saying that it was his pride and joy. My grandfather loved Cadillacs, so he passed that love onto my father. It was a golden DeVille, and he used to take it on road trips with the family. I actually want to buy him another one someday, since I think that it will bring up some great memories.

My parents bought only 2nd hand Toyota cars when they already had us, but when they were young and single they didn't have any cars at all.

A unique car that my parents owned was the original VW golfs. It was yellow and pretty cool. My memories of the car were not so good though. It had leather seats. This leather was not the kind to take kindly to the sun and so whenever i wore shorts and we had to ride in the car, i was burnt by the leather seats and always hated that feeling.

Many many years ago, when I was a little girl, my dad owned a Hunter. I'm not even sure if I have the name right but I think it was something like that. It was a lovely 4 doors sedan which is no longer been made.

My mother never had a car, my dad had tons of cars and currently he owns an Honda, I can't remember the exact model, but it's a good car. I remember being in an old Fiat 127 when I was a kid. :)

My dad's first car is the Toyota Corona from 70's/80's I think. I only saw pictures of it, never been on it since I wasn't born yet. His second car is the Nissan Sunny from 85'. The third one is Honda Civic which he drove for about 20 years before switching to a newer Civic VTEC. The one he's driving now is a 2005 Honda City. By the way, every car that he bought was used.

Did seems like such a morbid choice of words in the title. That is coming from a person who took the title to mean your parents are no longer living. But, reading it a second time I suppose it could mean previously owned. - This is the writer in me over analyzing things, though. Just ignore me. :)

Anyway, my parents do not really give good histories/backgrounds of their vehicles. It is kind of whatever is cheap and we can afford at the time. Right now my mom has a mini van and that is about all she can tell me. They never spend very much money on their vehicles. So, it really is whatever is cheap and drives.

Haha, come on, don't get stuck on those details! :p I've been there too myself, I've had the cheapest car on the market, luckily now I've climbed a few steps. :)

Im not that old and so the cars that i remember my parents having are not so old. My dad used to drive a nissan sunny and my mother would drive a volkswagen golf. I used to hate the golf because it had leather seats that got extremely hot when parked in the sun.

Well, I don't have time to list out every El Camino my father owned. At one time, we had close to 30 in our backyard. "They're collectors." My mom bought a Durango back in '98, still runs great, hasn't hit 100k miles yet. Only issue I have with it is the gas mileage (9 mpg, 12 on a good day), and my dad also had a 90's Jeep Cherokee, which we sold after he died since it had a lot of problems, I was too young to remember what. Stepdad had an old Bronco, f150, and an '05 Silverado.

My mom has owned a lot of awesome cars, that when she owned them she had no idea how rare they'd be now. I think her first car was a '65 Ford Fairlane.

Ouch, that's true, leather heats up a lot, besides, I hate the smell of it.

That Dacia is looking great Andrei. :)
