I don't know about that lol, I think that if someone is driving and we are annoying them it can be distracting, so the security can actually be less, especially if we start an argument... :)

I guess it was really not your dad's best side. Now that you are a driver, have you thought of giving your mom driving lessons? You may actually be a better instructor after having that experience.

While I don't give the driver instructions, I will think it 100% of the time, just as if I am driving.

In fact, my anxiety gets way too high and in the end, I just prefer to drive myself places.

LOL Josh, if you are thinking about it 100% of the time maybe it's better for you to say something? Or else you will stress out. I think it's better to relax or enjoy the view otherwise the ride will not be pleasant. :)

That's funny because i used to do that when i was a kid. I actually learned how to drive by doing that.

I always do the same thing Josh. As soon as I get into the car and it moves off I start to evaluate everything that the driver does. If the driver is someone I can relate to I normally let them know what problem I have with their driving. Sometimes i'll exclaim that I will never drive with the individual again although I still may end up doing so.

I sometimes pretend that I am the driver but I never give instructions to the driver because I think that just irritates them. I know that if I am driving I wouldn't want anyone to tell me how to drive because that would make me feel like an amateur. Having a person constantly telling you how to drive can also be a distraction for some people.

What do you mean, you learned how to drive just by watching the driver? So you are a skillful person! As a kid you were in the back seat no? Or were you in the front seat?

I think that women are nervous by nature and they can avoid being nervous or making comments when they are in the passenger seat. My wife is particularly nervous in that aspect, but what can I do really, nothing! :)

For sure. I feel like even if I'm not driving I have to be in control because I'm better than like 99% of the people I'm riding with. Especially if they pull out their phone and start texting or talking on it. If I can't drive myself I'm going to make sure the person who is does it right lol.

Well, no way I am using the cell phone while I am driving, that is just too dangerous and when I am in the passenger seat I would not allow the driver to do that because it's my life on the line.

Well, I am in the period of learning how to drive so - yes, quite often. My father always tells me to look at what he's doing and to keep my eyes on the road. I've never actually pretended to have a wheel in front of me or actually stomp the floor, but you get the main idea :).

My wife absolutely can't stand me as a passenger. Even though I try, I can't help but watch every side of the car and frantically issue warnings about what other drivers are doing. Now, thankfully, with my advancing years I have been able to hold back on most of them, but I still let them slip once in a while. That said, I am always thinking about it.

LOL jdjac, that is funny, so you are the nervous guy in the family really? Usually women tend to be more nervous than men... :p :D Yeah, age does make us wiser and we are able to keep to ourselves comment that won't bring anything positive into a conversation. :)

Female drivers always get a hard time from males, especially their partners. I overcame that by perfecting my driving skills so now it's the other way around. Thank God my husband doesn't let my edginess bother him.

I am usually the rear passenger of my dad's vehicle when I am riding inside. I only ride shotgun if I am the one who is going somewhere to get dropped off. I never really control the driver since they have to focus on the road.

YES! I am one of those people who are always checking the road and side mirrors. I'm glad I do this too because sometimes I see something a relative or friend may miss. And trust me when I say if a collision would have occurred, the greatest impact would have been from the passenger side. It annoys my best friend but she is thankful when she avoids a near car accident.

Well at least your friend has someone who cares about her driving. I know sometimes my dad or brother could be driving and miss something on the road. So being a shotgun person does not impede anyone.

I caught myself doing it again today, and am thinking that it might get better if I don't drive as much myself. To be honest, my wife is actually a better driver than I am using most methods of comparison. She has less tickets, has been in less accidents and drives a bit slower.
