500 Swan Songs: 2015 Cadillac CTS-V Coupe Special Edition Announced

As part of its send-off for the current-generation CTS-V—which will be replaced next year, at least in sedan form—Cadillac will build 500 special-edition coupes for 2015. The unique model doesn’t look terribly unique, what with its CTS-V coupe–standard bad-ass looks, but Cadillac has bundled together several optional extras to create an appealing end-of-generation offering.



Special-edition customers get the 556-hp CTS-V’s optional satin graphite–colored 19-inch wheels, red-painted Brembo brake calipers, black chrome grille, Recaro seats, suede steering wheel and shift knob, and Midnight Sapele wood trim for $72,195. That’s marginally less than a similarly equipped regular CTS-V coupe, but special-edition buyers also get exclusive red contrast stitching for the interior, so to those who place a heavy value on red (and the sort of factory-correct details car collectors will drool over in 25 years), this is the CTS-V coupe to get.

A sunroof ($700) and just three exterior colors are available—Crystal White, Black Diamond ($995), and Phantom Gray—but that lack of choice is juxtaposed by the far more important option of selecting a manual transmission. An auto is available, but we’d stick with the stick. Next year, the CTS-V coupe and wagon, as well as the outgoing V sedan, will bow out ahead of the 2016 CTS-V sedan’s arrival. By the looks of things, the two- and five-door V-series models unfortunately won’t be returning.
