A true gearhead question, do any of you have a favorite engine?
    Who makes it?
Size, Cylinder Number, valve system, etc.
Why is it your favorite engine?
My favorite engine right now is the 3.5L Dodge All Aluminium engine. This is the same engine that came in my Dodge charger. It is DOHC V6 with an Aluminium Block and Heads. The reasons it is my favorite engine is because: It has all forged internals from the factory and the horsepower and torque output of it is higher than any other engine in its class.

My favorite is the Chevy LT1. It is a 16 valve V8 with a cast iron block and aluminum heads. It is a pain to work on and doesn't produce much power but it has a ton of low end torque that makes it really fun to drive. Also with a big aftermarket camshaft and exhaust it sounds better than just about anything.

That is cool that Dodge put forged internals in their v6 even though they didn't turbo it. Usually you only see that in boosted applications from the factory. That motor might be nice for a swap into a 3000gt vr4.

I know it kind of puzzles me why they would put forged internals into a non-turbo car. I never thought about it but it would be a great replacement for the engine in the dodge stealth. However all i have heard is the terror they are to fix since they are always broken. Probably the weirdest thing about them is that they can handle a 100 shot of NOS stock. The stock forged components can handle the power however the pistons are a common replaced parts in high performance, since they are heavy bulky things stock wise. And its the cheapest way to drop the compression for turbocharging, since stock compression is 10.4:1 and kinda scary for adding boost.

My favorite engine is the 22r(e) from the old Toyota pickups. Probably one of the most reliable engines ever made. It is a little 4 banger, and so simple to work on! Probably with basic maintenance this engine can easily reach 500k+ miles. The only downside is how slow it is :).

Mine would have to be part of what made one of my favorite cars so special. The Ford 427 cu in engine. That would have to be at the top of my list. I always wanted to have one if I built a Cobra replica but after hearing a price tag of at least $15000 I will just admire them from a distance. There are other engines out there and many builders. I would like something in the 427 cu in range just to stick to the size.
