I'm sorry to say but something like that WOULD make me lose it. Road rage is bad granted but some people just don't either pay attention to what's going on around them when they drive or they just don't care thus causing "road rage". I'm glad I don't drive anymore.

With all the technology we have available I am wondering why there is not a device within a car to continually block cell phones while the engine is running!

My husband can get really angry and crazy. Me, not so much. Although I do get very mad if someone cuts me off. Or if someone is driving slow in front of me. But I just get annoyed. I don't beep or gesture or anything :)

I think car manufacturers should develop an "automatic car control feature" where a driver will simply use GPS tracking to get to a certain destination, and the car control feature takes care of everything to get to the destination, while the driver does something else. I hope this can be possible in the near future.

I can't remember where I saw it (Altzheimers you know) but I remember seeing on some science program a car that all you have to do is pre program its computer to your destination start it up and sit back and enjoy the ride. Another system in the works is the programmable "highway".

I just try to stay calm, and for the most part, I do. You don't get anything out of raging on someone, you just cause problems for them, and drama for yourself. I think if you let yourself get so mad over things like this, it is just underlying anger coming out. You need to chill out in your everyday life, and relax in general. As long as no damage is done to the car, and nobody gets hurt, there's no need to get upset.

Normally I would agree with that however there have been some times when my children and my wife were at risk from someone's stupid driving. It has been times like those that have really tested my temper.

I agree with that. About a year ago, a pizza guy almost ran over my girlfriend trying to avoid a speed bump in a parking lot. I couldn't help but yell at him, even though I should have stayed calm. But, in that situation, I couldn't help myself.

So it is possible right now? I knew it, it's really a simple thing in today's ever advancing technology, but I just wonder why it has not become mainstream yet. How much will it cost to have that feature installed in your car?

It probably would be quite expensive. The vehicle repair industry would see to that. Just think if there were significantly less accidents there would be a trickle down effect and auto insurance companies along with auto repair shops would lose a lot of money. Both of those industries make big $$$$'s from the public's bad driving.

I smell the potential for a little gadget here, perhaps a little scrolling message you can put next to your license plate that says "GET THE F* OFF THE PHONE" or "STOP TEXTING OR I'LL PUT YOU ON YOUTUBE". No, wait, a little gizmo that modified your standard car horn to play a message when you want. I'm sure these exist but I haven't seen them used to harass cell phone users. It's seriously dangerous, and annoying!

Yeah, that's probably the reason why it has not become mainstream yet, I'm sure the bigwigs of the auto insurance companies and lots of car repair shops are frowning upon this idea that's why they don't doggedly push the concept. Lots of people are gonna lose their jobs if this happens.

To be cynical, when did the corporate sector ever worry about working people losing jobs?
Yes I admit, cynical, but I am afraid it is truth.

I won't lie I am guilty of road rage at times, but at the end of the day you can't let trivial things get to you. Everyone makes mistakes and I know I made mistakes and got yelled at by drivers when I first started learning how to drive. You just have to shrug it off and keep moving forward.

Uh, yeah, even if I'm not from the US, most bigwigs really don't care about other's people's livelihood, they only care about what's in it for them. It's all about profit, profit, profit. That AI GPS would be very beneficial if it were approved.

A while ago I was watching a program showing the latest innovations in automobiles and believe it or not your cellphone can now be plugged into your radio or CD player while you wear an ear bud and you can monitor, make calls, send text and receive it as well all from the steering wheel of your car. Frankly I do not like that idea. Driving demands ALL of your faculties these days. You can not be safe on the road if something like a call or a text msg. distracts you regardless where in/on the car it comes from. :(

Don't worry bigal, Google and Toyota are making cars that drive themselves (where's the fun in that?!!) so that you can use their phones and look at their ads while you are on the way to work. Google would love nothing more than your full attention when you're stuck in a vehicle for a half hour :)

As far as I'm concerned you only reacted normally in defense of your wife. You were a lot nicer than I would have been. Had it been me it might have ended with his vehicle having broken glass or some dents in it that it did not have before.

That may be well and good but the question comes to mind what would happen if the electronics goes haywire? It would be back to the "good ole' days" of being bored and still you have to wait in traffic. To me it still is BEING STUCK IN TRAFFIC! :);)

I try to avoid road rage as well. I have given people the finger for many stupid things on the road. I'm not proud of it but I do try and stay cool.
