Is there a weight limit for competitive racing?

I appreciate that every pound of extra weight will slow the car down but is 200 pounds too heavy even if you have the talent?

Weight could come into play but I'm sure there are many cars that you could be competitive in. People can be too big for some cars. You can only be so big and still get into an indy car.

What type of racing are you hoping to get into?

It's not like you're going to just say "Hey, I'm an F1 driver", and then the'yy hand you the steering wheel and off you go in your first Grand Prix. You'll be starting in something much smaller and have to work your way up, so you'll have plenty of time to shed those extra points. :)

I wouldn't worry about weight. 200lbs is not something to be concerned with. Keep in mind, it's not 200lbs of weighing the car down. It's probably 50-60lbs of extra weight weighing the car down. Professional drivers themselves still have weight to them, it's not that much a difference.

I think the bigger issue is size and space. If you are professionally racing, you have racing straps, harness, special seats, etc. That's what would be the bigger issue.

Really does depend on what kind of racing you are going for.
Indy is one thing and something like rally racing or nascar is another.
With indy the weight matters I'd think whereas not so much in a full size vehicle of the aforementioned categories.
