When Lois Matykowski lost her wedding ring six years ago, she was devastated. After checking every spot in the house, the yard, the car, and even her dog’s poop for a few weeks, she gave up.

“My husband and I had been married for 20 years at that time,” Matykowski told ABC News. “We had just upgraded the ring, and it wasn’t insured. And it wasn't just the value, but also the emotional ties. How do you replace that?”

The ring's whereabouts became clear earlier this month when Tucker, the family's dog, coughed up the truth - and the ring.

The 10-year-old Rottweiler mix adopted from the Wisconsin Humane Society, is known as the “food burglar” in the house.

“He is 10 years old, but he acts like he is 2,” Matykowski said.

Funny story. I am quite surprised to know that an object could remain inside for so many years. Good for the Matykowski's, they found their long lost diamond ring.

Yeah, it's so odd the ring didn't end up somewhere else, if you know what I mean! I'm thinking that ring was stuck somewhere in the dogs stomach or throat, since after all that time that ring should have ended somewhere else, hehe!

This is truly an incredible story. I am actually amazed that the ring actually stayed in the dog that long. I wonder if the dog felt any type of discomfort due to the ring being lodged inside his body all of that time. In a way, I guess you can say that this particular story is a bit romantic.

Same here, since he coughed it up I'm thinking it had been stuck somewhere for a while. I wonder if this family takes their dog to the vet often?? After reading this I really started to wonder.

Good thing the ring was still in good shape and the acids from the stomach did not dilapidate it. Eating that popsicle was a blessing in disguise then! I wouldn't want to have a dog like that, so "food crazy"!

LOL, yeah. Silly dog! My dog is actually so weird, he first smells things before even trying to eat it. If he likes the smell he eats it, if not he doesn't. Ow, and sometimes he needs some encouragement from me in shape of sounds and words like: ''Mmmmmmmm!! tasty!'' If I'm convincing enough he will try to chew what I just threw at him. Sometimes I need to rub it on his snout, then he tastes it and goes like mmm! LOL. Did that with cake! Silly dog! He eats meat asap tho, cold cuts too. Weird dog.

We had dogs that ate everything we threw at them, specially bread! This one doesn't like bread! He used to be crazy for pecans and cottage cheese, he doesn't seem to care about those anymore.

Wow, six years its funny to know he still had that in there. They better start feeding him quite a lot or they will start missing a lot more than just wedding rings.

When I read this I didn't believe it but I think it's believable. Maybe the ring was stuck in the dogs windpipe but since it's a ring the dog was able to breathe and live with it for that long. You don't cough things up from the stomach do you? Another possibility would be that someone stole it and after six years fed it to the dog so they'd think it was the dog haha.

Yeah, I thought so as well. The ring was stuck somewhere and never made it to the stomach, that's for sure! How it turned out that way? We will never know :p But happy for them for finding that ring, not sure I'd still want to wear it if I was her tho.

I'd not like to have a dog like that around to be honest, this dog in particular isn't trustworthy, but if they decide to keep him around they must be very careful.

He's like my cat then, when he does not like the smell and taste of the food, then he doesn't eat it. He licks it 1st then decides if it's worth eating or not. So you're also forced to act just to be able to entice your dog to eat huh? Maybe your dog is sick of the taste of cottage cheese then?

Hahaha, no, he no longer eats that, we never gave him a lot cottage cheese anyway, but we noticed he loved diary! As for the pecans, well, he was a breeding dog, he was living in a farm with lots trees, my theory is he had a lot access to pecans because some of those trees were pecans ones. He was completely nuts for those!!!!

Dogs eat almost anything from my experience even plain bland rice, so for sure he will love those pecans. Since I live in the Philippines, that nut isn't popular here. I can't even remember tasting a pecan haha!

Hahaha yeah! That dog is very very weird! I heard pecans are becoming very popular in China, because over here they say the Chinese are taking a lot pecans from here to China, so the pecans are becoming a luxury over here! The prices are rising :hungover: To be honest we don't use them that much over here either, we have a couple desserts we make with them, but that's it.

Are pecans expensive? I see them occasionally as ingredients in cakes and pastries but I guess the Chinese will use them for their "medicinal value"? You know the Chinese are fond of organic stuff.

Now they are, most nuts are now, pine nuts are the most expensive now. Then the pecans and almonds, which is a pity because they're just amazing! To be honest I'm not sure, I assumed they like the taste and like to use to make tasty things, hehehe, but who knows, maybe they use it for some kind of natural remedy.
