Honda Places New Special-Edition Trim Atop Ridgeline Hierarchy

Of all the things Honda’s Ridgeline pickup might be accused of, succumbing to peer pressure isn’t one of them. It’s always had its own distinct style, and just to keep things interesting for the 2014 model year, Honda is giving the Ridgeline the special-edition treatment.

Honda tells us many Ridgeline buyers really dug the blacked-out look of the Ridgeline Sport, but also wanted leather, navigation, and more-stylish wheels, none of which are available on that level of trim. Enter the Ridgeline Special Edition. Featuring exclusive 18-inch aluminum wheels with black-trimmed spokes, a black trim package (that darkens the head- and taillight housings, the tailgate, and the honeycomb grille), and a navigation system, the Special Edition supplants the Ridgeline RTL at the top of Ridgeline hierarchy but is priced the same at $38,335. Special Edition badging on the tailgate reminds passers-by just how special you are. Exterior color choices are limited to Taffeta White, Crystal Black, and Alabaster Silver; and all get mated with a black leather interior.

Following up on a report this summer that the Ridgeline will take a two-year sabbatical beginning next fall, we asked Honda if the new Special Edition trim was a sort of going-away present for loyal followers. Predictably, Honda had no comment.
