For me it is American Psycho. Humorous, exciting, satirical. Incredibly written, directed and cast. Bale's performance is one of the best I've seen in film. Strange and unconventional enough to intrigue any who are fed up with the typical Hollywood rigmarole

Inception. Hands down. I was intrigued throughout the whole film, and I found the whole concept really interesting. Great actors, great storyline, great setting... It was pretty long though, but that isn't a problem because you're literally still wanting more after it ends!

I like Elizabeth. The whole movie and package is a master piece. The costume design, make-up, attention to detail, gesture, and mannerism of old British aristocracy is quite complicated and scary. The movie has an espionage, political, religious, feminism, and class system component. Blanchett plays a innocent girl without parents who grows up in a prison-like home and grows up to be unexpectedly the Queen of England.

Almost Famous. Aside from some nity-picky things, it very nearly is the perfect movie.

One of my all time favorite movies of all time has got to be "Fight Club". The reason for this is because it is a mind bending thriller, the plot takes twists and turns along the way and the ending will leave you breathless. For the longest time I tried to get my fiancee to watch the movie, and she wouldn't because she was going off of the title. Her response was always I don't want to see an action flick where dudes beat the crap out of each other. While this may happen in the movie, the movie has an all around point to it, and even she after seeing it was pretty blown away at it being a deep psychological thriller.

I have a couple that come to mind right off the top.
I think Godfather both one and two were masterpieces. So was the Paul Newman film
The Hustler which is going back a few years.
I also thought Alien was brilliant as a horror film and as a sci fi film.
The Exorcist was a real groundbreaker.

There are lots of movie masterpieces that I have watched, like The Lord Of The Rings or the Spiderman series. But they were the popular ones. I would like to include the very good but underrated movie "Let Me In", it's a very touching and engrossing movie. Good acting with an equally good and thought-provoking storyline.

I would like to say for me it was the movie called "Predator" with Arnold Schwarzenegger in 1987. I can still remember seeing the previews (trailers) on T.V. and telling my father that we need to see that film. When it cam out on HBO I took the VCR and hooked it up to record the movie on a blank tape. I still got the movie on a VHS and yes I still like using my VCR from time to time.

I think the movie Ray. He did all those things like manage his money while he was blind. You have people with two eyes and 20/20 eye sight, end up with contracts worth millions and give some one power of attorney of their money they don't even know.

I have always really enjoyed Blade Runner (1982), and consider the director's cut version a masterpiece. :)

I really like The Dark Knight. I'm not sure I would call it a complete masterpiece since there are some flaws, but Heath Ledger's acting was flawless in my opinion, and I really liked how they tried to make the Joker more realistic by having his 'permanent grin' be a Glasgow smile among other things. I think that movie is a masterpiece because of his role in it.
Dockings American Psycho is a good one! I've only seen it once so far, but I enjoyed it, even if the end did leave me somewhat confused

My favorite movie is Ghost Rider. It is the best not only because the super hero has great powers, but also because it shows us all the sides of a hero, the good and the bad.

I agree with Pans Labyrinth. I actually thought it would be quite a poor and cheesy attempt at a horror, but the way in which it was orchestrated was excellent, I'd definitely recommend this film to others.

I have to agree with mudrock. I think 'Fight Club' is certainly a masterpiece. The first time watching it, it just blows your mind and is insane. But, it still has high re-watching value and it never gets old. Each time you watch it, another piece of the puzzle becomes clearer to you. If you haven't watched it yet, I highly recommend taking an hour or so to sit down, relax, and have your mind blown (literally in the end ;) ).

Another movie I really like that is a masterpiece for me is 'Spirited Away' and 'Princess Mononoke.' They are animated films by Miyazaki, but they are extremely moving and expressive.

In my eyes Titanic, The Gladiator and Godfather movies are the masterpieces. I can't remember how many times I have seen these movies.

The Count of Monte Cristo (2002), I think is a masterpiece movie. It's about a man who is falsely imprisoned by his jealous friend, and finds hidden treasure to seek revenge. I think it's a great movie; you guys should go and watch it.

I recently watched Akira Kurosawa's 1985 epic Ran. If any movie I've seen qualifies as a masterpiece, this is certainly one of them. Emotion pours out of the screen, and the imagery is as striking as I've ever seen. This was the last great film Kurosawa made, and the result was something easily befitting a director of his immense stature.
