Did you watch last Saturday's fight between Miguel Cotto and Sergio Martinez? Cotto was a 2-1 underdog. A lot thought that Martinez would plow tough Cotto and knock him out. Instead, the opposite happened. Cotto blitzed Martinez right from the opening bell. He knocked him down 4 times and finally the carnage was stopped in the 10th. Pretty amazing right?

I didn't get to see it. I forgot about it the night of the fight. I noticed something on Twitter the next morning. I'm impressed. I felt Cotto could do it but Martinez has been amazing in most of his fights. I forgot that Martinez was off for 14 months. That couldn't have helped at all.

I need to try to catch the replay of this fight.

Miguel Cotto was spectacular against Sergio Martinez! He dominated the champion from the get go which led to Sergio's corner to throw in the towel before the 10th round to save their fighter from further punishment. However it should be noted that Sergio was hampered by nagging issues on both knees. Problems in the lower extremities will almost certainly limit a fighter's mobility and punching power. Nevertheless, this shouldn't take away from Cotto's masterful display against a dangerous opponent. I think we are seeing a resurgence by Cotto.

I have read in one article written by a prominent boxing author that he thinks Cotto will knock out Manny Pacquiao if ever they meet again in the ring. I highly disagree with this. Yes, Cotto looked like a different boxer when he was in the ring with Martinez but I think he still can't beat the Filipino legend. He's still pretty Slow IMO. It will just be a replay of their first fight.

I love the respect for the Pacman. For me, I'd like to see him fight one more time to tell if he still has it. Some may have already dismissed Pacquiao because he is on the wrong end of 30 and the skills have diminished somewhat.
