This has been an annoying and somewhat scary problem I've been dealing with the last few weeks. I bought this 2001 Audi TT from a car dealer about a year ago and I was so happy with the deal I struck because quite honestly the car was still in good shape and the price is very cheap, I mean as cheap as Audis get anyway. Long story short, after about a year driving the car I started noticing rattling noises from underneath the car whenever I hit the freeway and I start to clock in at over 60MPH. It never really bothered me that much since most of the time I never go over 60MPH on a regular drive but when I hit the open road well that's a different story. What do you think is the problem?

When I had a rattling noise underneath my bmw, the gasket came out from in between two pipes. I had the pipes welded together and that fixed my issue but you may want to go get it checked out because it could be anything and not necessarily pipes and if it's really serious you want to know for sure. And if you get it fixed now it won't cause a bigger issue. Trust me. I learned my lesson.

Where does the noise seem to be coming from? Can you feel it in the wheels at all. Does it change with engine rpm?

Is it an old car..?.It might be because the governor is set to 60mph.That is the only reason i can think of now, check it up at the local shop.
Can you post a pic of the car's tires..if they are worn out or if there are any dents on rims, this problem might crop up.

Without anymore details I can't really state anything, but maybe try going to the mechanic and fix the issue.
