I can not tell you how many times I had close calls inside and outside of a vehicle from an elderly person.
You see it often in the news that some old lady got confused and hit the gas instead of the brake.
Shouldn't you have to retake the drivers test to be able to keep your license if you take it to get your license?
    What do you think?

Hell yeah they should. They are the one's you should watch out for when driving. One time an old lady just cut me off during traffic when I was merging onto the freeway. She just stopped right in the middle of both lanes because I was going to go ahead of her and a few other cars. There is two lanes for a reason and the lane didn't even end for another 40 ft or so. Hella dumb.

Yes I definitely believe the elderly should have to retake their test and more frequent than not. There are those who drive perfectly fine but the risk are high when it comes to the elderly driving. Thankfully I've never had a close one with an elderly person, however it happens. They didn't see you or something to that effect. Hopefully they put something into effect for retaking driving test for the elderly as they put so much energy into things that are of less importance at times.

Yes I think they should. But they are not the only ones to watch out for. Look out for every vehicle on the road. You never know when another driver will do something that might affect your life.

Yes, I think that the elderly should retake the test because with age they develop a lot of driving flaws. Some of them can't see as they use to see, lose their hearing and others are even unable to grip the steering wheel. Without these basic but important things they become unfit for the road.

Yes, they should. Some older people lose the ability to drive and it's really dangerous for them to keep driving. They risk their lives and the lives from other people.

I don't know man. lol I am not in too big of a rush to bother old people or hurt their feelings. Maybe that's why they don't make them retake it. lol People texting and driving or drinking and driving is more of a problem than old people i feel. Most of the time i see them driving too slow instead of too fast.

Yes, I do feel when you reach a certain age you should retake the driver's test. Like yourself, I've had so many close calls with people of a certain age on the road. And the worst part is how rude they can be and never acknowledge their recklessness in a near accident. My father is 72 and he tends to drive carefully for the most part. However, I've been in the car with him when he abruptly drive pass stop signs or fail to look both ways before driving into oncoming traffic.

Oh gosh. I bet that was scary. My grandmother should retake it. She backed into me once and didn't even care to stop to see if she damaged my car. What she was doing backing up in the middle of the road I have no clue. There was no damage, but then when I asked her about it she asked me if I was driving or was it my mother whom was in the car. She was blaming her backing into me on who was driving my car. Lol

Yes I feel they should. Both my parents are well into their seventies and tooling around our small town is no problem. But it sets me on pins and needles when they

take a longer road trip. Most times I drive them, but they feel like a burden and slip around and drive themselves. I feel for the other drivers sometimes. I know how

    my poor dad drives.

Driving too slow can be a problem as well. Passed a car today on the highway that was driving too slow. The hill they did it on is a steep one which is tough for the big trucks. Going up the hill that slow causes them to lose momentum and then they have to crawl up the hill. This can cause problems when traffic is heavy.

That is where my problem is also.My dad drives to fast and can easily be distracted looking out the window. My mother drives too slow and refuses to go the posted

70 miles an hour. I worry either will have a wreck and hurt themselves or some other poor driver.

As aging happens their eyesight dwindles and they can't see clearly.I surely would opt for re-taking those tests. We can't take chances. There should be a set limit and they should be asked to renew license once in 5 years.Personally, beyond 80,i don't want them driving a vehicle on road. They risk themselves and others life.

Absolutely. I've come close to getting into so many accidents with the old people in my area. Too many of them drive slowly and are oblivious to everything outside of their car.

Totally. At Portugal they already have to, and I agree completely. Old people sometimes forget the rules, lose capabilities or simply let their vision uncared. If they need to take the test once again, they'll need to make sure they're in good condition.
