I've been seeing a lot of commercials for Fiat lately. These things look like mini-coopers. Any reason why someone would want to buy one of these cars?

You must be talking about the Fiat 500?

I asked the same question when I first saw them. I'm not in to pocket sized cars. But when I look at this car I like and don't like it at the same time. I think it has an interesting look at some angles. There is one in my neighborhood. I see them a lot around here.

The Abarth model looks interesting. 160 hp and 170 ft lbs of torque in that little car with tuned suspension. I would like to take it for a spin.

They are definitely a different car. The front end isn't my favorite part of the car.

Just like the Mini Cooper, it is a remake of a old car which is why I think some love it. You have people that loved the old one and want the new car.

For a small car that one is sexy. I don't think that is available here in Canada. As far as I know we can only get the 500.

The Abarth is pretty well tuned and can really hug corners if you are zipping around town. A lot of Americans are going to see it as another pocket-size mess but it is definitely something that the Italians can make very well.

I currently own a Bmw 3 series and to be honest, the new Fiat models appear no different from they used to be in the 1990s. Although BMW model cars practically look the same but Fiat models don't seem to even change their body shape, I don't know if they're preserving their originality just like with Porsche models but they need a revamp on some looks and performance-wise to really get the car enthusiasts to buy them. However, if I ever do get the chance to try them out, I'd love to, never driven or rode one.

I can't speak about the other Fiat models but the 500 was made to look like the old one. That was the appeal of it for some people. Just like the Mini Cooper.

I want to buy a Fiat someday; I think they look nice and they can save you a ton of gas money. I have a friend that has a Fiat and he says they ride nicely.

How did that car feel with 100 hp? Another 60 hp is a huge jump. I want to take one for a drive now just to see what its like. I don't know if we have a Abarth around here.

Thumbs down for me. But it's not so much this car - It's hard for me to get excited about any really tiny car because I don't take them seriously. You may as well try and pimp out a Prius - it's probably cheaper.

Having driven both the FIAT 500 and the 500 Abarth, I can tell you that they're both amazing cars. I love how they look as well.

Even though the ordinary 500 isn't as powerful as the Abarth, it definitely doesn't feel sluggish at all. However, the Abarth is just on a whole different level in my opinion. That much power in such a tiny package = a VERY fun car. I can safely say that the Abarth is the most fun car I've ever driven.

The Fiat is fairly new here in Canada. We have the Fiat 500 - always wanted to take one for a test drive.

I am not sure that I behave very rationally when it comes to vehicles, but I thing that I am starting to fall for this car. To be honest the only thing that can fit in my garage is a fiat 500 or Chevy Spark. Being half Italian might affect my decision a bit. The only thing hanging me up is whether to get a sunroof or hardtop. I don't like the compromised headroom with sunroof option. Still considering going hardtop with an aftermarket pop-up sunroof.

    Welcome to GearHead Central Alex72008!

I'm not tall so I would want a sunroof. Headroom wouldn't be a problem for me. I would test drive both to see if the sunroof cause a problem with headroom.
