How many of you think Volvo will be a major player in the future? How many of you like/love the new Volvos
Any of you considering a purchase/lease of this car ?
Is Volvo the safest automobile company on the road today ?
These are just a few questions I would like answered with facts and opinions on this forum.

Volvo had a following of loyal die had customers. Now it's following a list of brands that have an identity crisis:Saab, Saturn, Buick, Mercury, Jaguar.
My brother and sister-n-law and now my sister have second thoughts about buying another Volvo because it's owned by Ford. This is contrary to the fact that they like their cars and have had good reliability experience. Go figure!

I remember countless Volvos down the streets when I was child, mostly imported from Europe, what made them look "chic."

Actually I can't see any Volvo in circulation, except for 2 or 3 old Volvos that I have seen parked somewhere in the street within the past year.

So that I think the future of Volvo was yesterday.

After watching that Volvo commercial with Jean Claude Van Damme it's going to be around for a long time. That commercial is doing a marketing wonder for the company and has gone viral on the internet. All I can say is that Jean Claude Van Damme can still can do the splits.

I think consumer Volvo is on its way downhill. Some of the newer models are nicely designed, but it's about five-ten years too late. The typical German and other European manufacturers have blown by them so much in terms of both design and market capitalization.

However, Volvo will be in business for a long, long time because they do have other markets they are in outside of the consumer industry. It seems like most of the big semi-trucks are Volvo. They just launched that new promotion with Jean Claude Van Damme to demonstrate their new, accurate steering system and that was pretty cool.

There are a lot of Volvos around her. A lot of Volvos semi tricks as well but they Frightliner, Mack, international, peter bit and Kenworth all have them beat hear.

I think Volvo is going to do fine. I don't know how their numbers are compared to 10 years ago but I would be shocked if it was a lot lower.

    Hi Flexin,

I concur with your thoughts. The company has been around for good number of years to be lost. The numbers indeed have been a concern, however each of their products are bullet proof on performance and currently their betting big on India, China and other developing markets. Let's hope that works..
