The first car I purchased was a 1998 Volkswagen Jetta. It was unfortunately as sporty as I could afford at that point. It only had 128 hp but the torque in the low gears was unreal. It of course was manual transmission 5 speed...and it had the reverse situated to the upper left (you had to push down to get it into reverse).

Yea, titohunter, it was certainly worth buying then. Unfortunately, I don't see them anymore or anything else to be compared.

My first car was given to me and I got it when I was 18. My parents bought VW golf for me. I love this car as it was so smooth and it really did the job for me. 1.6 L which made it very convenient for me. I love the way the car responded and I felt as though me and it were one. Over time I managed to upgrade the car bit by bit. I would usually take this car to regular servicing and so it felt smooth from the date came to my last days with the car just before I sold it. I think it's really hard for you to get rid of your first love but it had to be done. And even though it's gone I'll never forget it.

You sound like you were quite an independent youngster like myself. It makes so much difference when you are older. Good deals on amazing cars are always breathe taking but you have to be very lucky to come across that and you were.

My first car was a Toyota Camry 1990 old and dusty, but it was superb at getting me where I need to go! :whistling:

It was a Ford fiesta.back then Ford was famous for its reliability and it still is..Back in 2005 it was the best in its segment..a 1.4 TDci Diesel Engine and the build being specific for the Indian Market.of late,i sold it off as it was creating too much problems and i had to shell out more for its maintenance.I owned it for nearly 8 yrs and it was a great buy for a first car..
