    Pardon my ignorance, but do you mean that it's quite bulky? Like "you can't stick it in your pocket?" :p I also don't like their form, but I guess all professional photographers use it. I really don't know how superior it is to the regular digital ones. Photos taken using a DSLR and a regular digital camera look the same to me.

    No ignorance at all. Yeah, I walk around a lot and I can just take my camera out of my pocket and it is ready. But...I am not a professional...just a picture taker! I would go crazy lugging anything around strapped to my neck!

    I am hoping to find a good excuse to buy a digital SLR. I have had Nikon film cameras in the past and they have always served me well. I would say between Nikon and Canon for digital SLRs it is either or.
    They have great range in terms of resolution. Even the entry level digital SLRs should serve you well.
    With me it is a question of disposable cash.

    But the price disparity of a Sony digicam and a DSLR is quite large, so it's not really practical if you are not into photography. As a casual picture taker, I'm already content with my phone's 8.1 megapixel cam. :D
