I find this question kinda relevant to my case in particular, because it's kinda funny that when I was younger I used to love to listen to really loud music while driving, but nowadays I don't do it anymore because it gets on my nerves. I feel like if I start listening music or even the radio... I'm going to get too distracted!

I've also noticed that less people listen music while driving nowadays; back when I was a little girl a lot people enjoyed driving while listening to loud music! So loud that made the windows vibrate slightly.

Do you still like to listen music while driving, or do you think it's too dangerous?

I would not really drive with music unless if its at a low volume. Sometimes people play really loud music which takes their attention from off the road, they can't hear when another driver is blowing their horn or if someone is trying to signal something to them. Some people can't do without music so they choose to play it while driving but I believe its a matter of how loud you play the music, because it can disturb you.

I can no longer play loud or low music! I'm the nervious type who prefers to have no distractions while on the road. Which I find odd, because when I was younger I didn't really care. Thanks for your answer :)

I have to have my music on, it relaxes me. I don't find the music distracting at all. If you scan your mirrors and watch what is going on around you then it isn't an issue, music or no music.
I use to listen to it really loud. I don't have that big system anymore so I can't but I do turn up the volume a bit. I want to add a small sub to the 3.2 TL soon just to add to the sound.

I don't usually listen to music while driving because it distracts me, but if I'm in the passenger seat I will do that. The people who listen to music inside their cars really loud are the ones that want attention, complete with their windows rolled down. I find that mostly teenagers do this though.

You must have nerves of steel ;) Because for some reason I can no longer listen to music while driving, I used to do that when I was younger tho. I guess something in me changed, but it's cool you still feel like listening to music while you drive and you even find it relaxing :D

Same here, pal. I used to listen to music while driving when I was 18 years old or so, but for some reason I can no longer do it. I get kinda nervious if I do; I'm afraid I might get distracted or miss something!

Yeah, I actually never see any adults turn up the volume very loud, and if ever I do, it's always a teenager doing it. I think maturing has a lot to do with it. Adults would rather use earphones if they want their music loud.

I like to listen to lpud music at home only :) Never outside home tho, specially when driving a car, but if I'm on the passenger's seat, then yes (but not too loud!). I think it has to do a lot with maturity, just like you said. Also the fact that when you grow older, you're also more aware about the consequences that your actions might bring.

It's a scientific fact teens lack that, btw. I read about it a while ago. Actually, it made a lot sense when I read it!

Yeah, I also don't listen to music using earphones while I'm driving, but only when I'm in the passenger seat. It would be very dangerous if you can't hear outside sounds while driving!

I usually listen to music when I'm commuting to work or when I'm doing long distance driving. Recently I got a completely new exhaust system and I shut off the radio more often to listen to the sounds that my car produces.

Yeah, some people think that listening to music while driving shouldn't affect you at all, but I think everyone is different and react in a different way when exposed to similar stimuli. Music affects me a lot! I must sound like such a neurotic driver :roflmao:

I usually do not like the music on when I am driving, or anything on the radio at all, especially when I am I m each traffic.
However, at times when I have traveled for a long distance, and was traveling alone, then I do turn the radio on when I am going down the freeway. There is usually not as many things happening to distract a driver, and not as much traffic when you are going cross country , and not in a city, so the music is welcome and not annoying to me in these circumstances.

I particularly dislike the teenage (or simply immature) drivers that blast the music on full volume, and the windows down, so you can hear the " boom-boom " all the way down the street, and when you pull up to a stoplight, you can't even talk to anyone in your own car , for the noise coming from the other vehicle.
I am glad that they passed laws making this illegal. It doesn't stop it, it it does seem to save slowed it down some.

Especially when the music has some sort of "impact" on you, like me I get depressed when I get to hear certain songs, so for sure that will definitely make an impact on how I drive. I will probably get emotional and sentimental, and that will make me lose focus, so music is a no-no for me.

I like to listen to music ONLY when I'm on a road trip... but to be honest I'd never be able to do this while driving around the city :p I've seen some people doing that tho, but it strikes me as something really dangerous!

I'm quite familiar with that boom boom noise you described :p People used to do that a lot a few years back, but thankfully this stupid trend has stopped almost completely. Sometimes the noise was so loud that it even made the windows of my mom's car vibrate! My mother is an anxious driver, so she didn't take that very well! Funny thing is that I grew up to be exactly like her! LOL!

I can no longer stand to listen to music while driving around the city, but if I'm going down the freeway then yes, I can actually listen to the radio for a bit. My boyfriend likes to listen to music while he drives... no wonder he has so many tickets! A lot people say that listening to music can't do any harm, I say it depends a lot on the person, but for me listening to music while driving is a big no no :roflmao:

Oh lol! I thought I was the only one who gets affected in that way! I thought it was me and my hormonal issues :roflmao: It's nice to know I'm not alone on this one :) Sometimes I feel sad when I listen certain songs... specially the ones that remind me to my exes. I'm super hormonal right now... my eyes can get teary very easily :speechless: That can't be good for my periferic vision!

I think that everyone has felt emotional and gets affected towards a certain song, it's just that people don't usually talk about personal and sappy stuff in general, lol. To be honest, some songs even make me cry when I hear them, lol.

Of course! I always have the radio, or CD going. Depending on who is in the van with me, determines what is played. If it's just me, I blast songs I like to sing along with. Family? The radio is on. Just the little kids? I play little kid music and we all sing along.

One of my pet-peeves is when someone, usually someone trying really hard to be "cool", is driving around with their music blasting. I tell myself that it is probably a teenager who doesn't know any better yet :)
I used to listen to my music really loud while driving, when I was younger, but there is a difference between loud and obnoxious (however, to be fair, I'm sure that when I used to roll around playing my music all loud, there were people that looked at me as though I was being a nuisance, at that time).
