Usually I just drive by routine, this point to the other point, kids in the back seat and so on. But this week I had to make a 100 miles trip alone, the weather was great so in the highway I opened both front windows, put the radio really high and it was great! :)

Under which circumstances you enjoy driving the most?

I did that recently too! I had to drive over an hour by myself, which is uncommon because I'm usually driving the kids around. So yup, I put down the windows, blare my favorite music, and drive along.

I have to be honest though. I don't really prefer this. I'd rather be with other people.

I prefer driving alone on short distance say from home to office or office to home. It gives me time to listen to what I want to listen without having to be changed into something else. It is on long distance trips that I like driving with my spouse or other people.

I don't get to enjoy the drive as much as i use to. Once I get something fun or exciting geared up then that will change. That being said I do like being alone so I can do what I want.

I normally enjoy the 20-26 minute drive home from work (not a morning person so the drive in is less then pleasant) but lately I call my wife and talk to her. Its off to give up my alone time like that.

When I had my motorcycle it was pretty much always an enjoyable ride. It was exciting and seed like an adventure every time I threw a leg over it. Even the rain didn't really take away from the pleasure. I had a rain suit for that.

One day it was raining hard. The rain drops were huge, cold and wouldn't stop. My face shield wouldn't stop fogging up so I had to lift it up. This caused me to have to take the large, cold rain drops to the face. That day was a bit rough but I made it.

The days where it's -2 or so without the wind chill can be a bit rough as well. But I loved the bike enough to want to even ride then.

I miss my Yamaha R6, riding was a pleasure of mine. I miss the ride. I need to work on getting another bike.

Believe it or not I never rode a bike, well just behind the driver. I can't imagine driving with -2, it must feel like the freezer!!

I was enjoying the ride so I didn't notice it right away. Rode to the beach (odd time to be there with those temps but I love being by the water), and when I got there I put my hands near the exhaust to warm them up for the ride home. When I finally arrived home I couldn't open my garage door. I was wishing I had a garage door opener at that point. My hands were frozen. I bought warmer gloves a year or so later. Should have bought them right away.

I used to ride my bicycle :) to school everyday at 7AM even in winters with my t-shirt only, possibly 5º-10ºC temperatures (40-50) and I didn't feel a thing, nothing like being a teenager. I imagine a biky is much worse...

Hey there, nice to see I'm not the only Portuguese here. Well, I prefer to drive alone, in highways or empty roads, in a cool weather, front windows open, music in high volume and there we go. Driving is a pleasure for me. If I could get a job where I have to drive during all the day, that'd be perfect. Anyways, I usually get upset in dense traffic.

I usually enjoy driving when there is no traffic at all and the streets are not crowded. That situation only happens during graveyard hours.

Caparica showed my colours eh? :) I'm in Lisbon, what about you?

I don't know if I would enjoy a driving job, I think that would be really exhausting, driving just a few hours per week is ideal for me.

I'm living at France, but was born and lived in Lisbon for some time too.

Well, I'd be all the day driving if I could, but first, I have no where to go and second, my car is still one of these that wastes fuel, so the only excuse for it would be a job.

Why don't you look for a driving job in the driving industry? Cabs, trucks, buses and why not a pilot? I would enjoy trying to race with a car, I think it would be a great experience...

I love driving on sunny days on country roads. If I happen to find a windy road, I get a massive grin on my face.

I'll probably do that. Still, I'd need a few years of drivers license to apply for such jobs as they wouldn't accept new drivers. Even to rent a car you need at least 2 years in most of companies. Anyways I'd love to try out a race. I wonder about the adrenaline it would give.

I love long road trips especially through the desert. I find the scenery amazing and if I am alone, like the original post described, I find it more relaxing than the most oppulent of spa days. I think it is the freedom and peace of being under your own power and not having to do anything I don't want to.

@Nub_Cannon you enjoy driving with the wind? You mean bikes no?

@Ricardo187 we must talk to @Flexin so that he organizes a gearheadcentral race with interested members!

@justusforus I've never been to the desert, it should be amazing at night... One day I must go to Morocco (our closest desert) to check it out...

I think @Nub_Cannon is talking about a twisty road. That also brings a smile to the face of motorcycle riders.

I would love to set up a Kart race but I think the commute will be a problem for a few.

Windy road means twisty road? Always learning... :)

It would be hard to setup because gearheadcentral has members all over the world. If you do it in Portugal I'm in! :D

I'm living at France, and I only go to Portugal in the summer, but it'd be so awesome.

I really enjoy driving outside of the city... nowadays the city is a total chaos because of the new buses! So it's really hard to really enjoy driving under those circumstances, but when I get out of the city everything changes and you can finally relax. It kinda reminds me of the way things used to be back when we had less traffic some years ago (when I was a child).
