I'm a very modest girl (I like to think, lol) and I sincerely hate any kind of unwanted attention. Seriously, I wish people would notice me less when I walk down the street! I swear the most odd things have happened to me concerning to unwanted attention.

Like this one time I was grocery shopping with my mom, I was in line buying some bread and the guy next to me start a conversation with the old woman packing the bread. I also made a comment, you know... all nice and friendly!

Well, this old guy took that the wrong way. He asked my phone number just like that! Asked me what if I had any plans for that time - he caught me off my guard! You don't go grocery shopping and expect that kind of behaviour, lol! I was shocked and freaked out!!! I dealt with the situation as nicely as possible tho.

Well, I was picking the right papaya and the guy saw me again and told me: ''Are you sure you are busy tonight? If you come, I can assure you will not regret it''. I was all likes yikes :nailbiting:, then :yuck::spitoutdummy: and finally :hilarious::roflmao::finger: LOL! I felt terrified and left as soon as I could, lol. It took me a while to shop there again, and for a while I had to look over my shoulder!

I've been hitted on before, but never at the grocery store and in such a creepy and scary way. Ah seriously, I don't know why the craziest and scariest things ever happen to me, lol.

What about you guys? What do you think about unwanted attention? How do you deal with it? Have any freaky experiences to share?

Well I'm not surprised though that you get that kind of attention, it's a hassle we have to endure. (Lol, "we", huh? :joyful:) I have gotten a lot of unwanted attention myself, even from my friend's dad it's disgusting. I think I'll expound on it in private. But I usually just shrug off such cases, since I'm not gonna see that person again anyway.

It doesn't really bother me when I get hit on. I'm a flirt anyway. I had some times when I was shocked but it didn't bother me. I was helping a guy lift something and there was two ladies watching me earlier that walked down the isle. As they went by they both goosed me. I was surprised but it didn't bother me.

That guy might have went to far in the end but sometimes you have to take a shot. They might have been is one and only chance to cross paths with you. Sometimes you just have to take that shot.

I just blow em off and make it clear that I'm not interested. Not in a rude way mind you but in a nice subtle way at first then if they don't get the hint I'll be a bit blunt about it.

Yikes! I hate it when old guys try to hit on you, lol. I forgot the guy who did this was 50 something. Yikes! I think is better to forget ;) I think I saw the guy there later, but I pretended like I didn't see him. I just did my shopping as usual, but I was afraid to be honest.

Yeah another guy that hit on me was around 40+ already! And the others who were the same age as us isn't really worth mentioning, lol. I'm not interested in them so it's unwanted attention in a way. You did have a good reason to be scared, after all, he's already 50, and he could be a rapist or a killer for all we know. (I watch to much CI nowadays). So you should always bring pepper spray with you.

You do know that there are many that rape while in school? So that means that people your age, younger and older can and do rape people. It might have just been a guy that noticed an attractive lady and hit on her.

It could have just been a regular older guy hitting on a younger woman. Could be a creepy looking, regular older guy. You never know. But if you just worry about the older guys then turning a blind eye to many other dangerous people. They come in all shapes, sizes and ages.

Hahahaha!!!! Yeah, plus... who hits on you like that? Yikes! Scary as heck!! Ah, once I met a guy younger than me, he was 22... gosh, he kept calling and calling! He wanted to go out on a date, but I had an odd feeling about him, so in the end I didn't. Anyways, he kept calling and caaaaalling. Don't you hate it when they just don't get it? lol!

Yeah, been thinking of getting some pepper spray, because you never really know :nailbiting:

Good point, James! I've actually heard of a lot young guys who have raped and killed girls. I've read some really sick news in the past, so yeah, I totally agree with you! Some people might appear so innocent, but in fact could be rapists or killers. You never know! As a woman, is very important to stay alert all the time. Some rapists/murders can be very handsome and young as well; there are some really sick people out there.

Scary times we live in.. Best to stay in groups at night or better yet not go out at night at all. Rapist's come in all genders too don't forget that.. Just because the majority are men doesn't mean that all are. Stay vigilant folks.

I agree, good point! I think it's just the dirty old men stereotype affected how I view the intentions of older men. But yeah I remember being creeped out while I was walking home, it was 12 AM already and I just withdrew from the ATM. A random guy said "Hi" to me, I don't know him at all but I ignored him and I clutched my bag tighter because he might be a mugger, but no, not really, nothing bad happened to me. He looks around 20+ too. Well now I think if you do that at ungodly hours and in a quiet street, you can be mistaken for a holdapper.

Actually, it was someone that the family knew. That 40 yrs old was our family dentist! He was kind of pervy, no really pervy! I was only 18 that time. I will tell it to you via PM. Anyway, Always follow your intuition. If a guy keeps bugging you about something, you can be sure you will be pestered by that person all the time when you even just become friends, so you just did the right thing. I also hate "Buggaboo" people, like Destiny's Child would put it.

Sure :) I might tell you about my pervy boss, lol. Ex boss I meant. Ah... but I think you already know a bit about that story :p That's how I lost my job, actually today (one year ago) was the day I started working for him. Hahaha, yeah!!!! I guess he finally got it ;) But yeah, it was so awkward!!! Glad it's over, you have no idea how much I regretted to have given him my number. Plus I think he was very... uhm ''easy''.

I agree. A rapist wouldn't hit on somebody in a mall, a rapist will usually stalk their prey first before making a move. Besides, if we look at the statistics, the perpetrators are usually within the age of twenty to fourty years old. Some old guys just don't want to admit that they're old and flirt with the ladies.

I just go out with baggy clothes, no makeup, and a hat. Even then that still doesn't work lol. I try to be as polite as possible because some people are really sensitive when it comes to rejection.

Actually rapists have different ways to ''work''. Hitting someone in a mall like that guy did... could mean a lot things. I'd never trust a guy ''hitting on'' me like that, I believe he went way beyond ''hitting on'' me. He made insinuations to me, it was gross! You'd need to have been there to get it. Rapists will use EVERY way to attract a victim... a woman isn't in danger to be raped only when she's walking alone in a dark alley... a rapist can spot you anywhere and use any means to get what they want.

As for the old part... I'd not count on that! I've heard of several granpa who have been accused of rape over here. My advice to all women out there: trust NO ONE.

Some woman will still look great like that so they will still get hit on. So you still must have it going on.

Ah so he was pervy too eventhough he has a gf? That's quite creepy, and his gf is quite unfortunate to end up with him. Well he was your employer, at 1 point he's gonna have to contact you, so giving your number to him that time is unavoidable, unfortunately. But at least it's over now right?

Yeah, I think a lot guys are like that (not all tho) He was kinda awkward... socially speaking :p He told me we should meet at the end of every month to discuss work projects, goals and so on. Right. It's all over now, no longer working for him... he is in canada now, I think.

Did you meet up with him every week then? He must be trying to hang out more with you under the excuse that it's "work-related".

Oh no, never. He proposed every end of the month, but he got the feeling I wasn't interested at all and he dropped the idea just like that, lol. That guy was really weird, believe me. He had a huge ego and almost felt like a G-d.
